Tetrahedron (Personal Tattoo Design)

Late last night, I started trying to solidify what I would want in my next tattoo. The first and most important issue I decided to tackle was that it would be one of my own design, so I started carefully planning out what I'd want. 

I've always had a fascination with the dark imagery associated with animal skulls, yet their symbolism, especially in the ram, runs far deeper than the occult. The skull (though generally a human one) can act as a memento mori, a reminder of what will inevitably come at the end of life. The flower arrangement, on the other hand, is an allegory for the transience of life, and serves as a reminder of impermanence ~ this is the original intent behind flower still life painting as a genre, which I found to be a beautiful idea. 

The tetrahedron is a geometric form associated with the philosophy of 'sacred geometry', and represents the element of fire. As the ram is also a sign of fire, they are one and the same in my design. Also, I found that the shape of the ram's skull and horns actually mimics the form of the tetrahedron naturally, so it worked out in my favour. I included a variety of flower species in the arrangement to deviate from the standard 'surrounded by roses' motif that so many tattoos have. The lily is not only my favourite flower, but is also a symbol of life in itself- seemed appropriate to include it. There are some roses, petunias, peonies, and other species included as well. 

Though whenever I decide to get this actually done I will hope that the tattoo artist can assist me with fixing symmetry a little more (I didn't have a proper ruler to do the lines so there is a little bit of error I'd like to fix). Let me know what you think of it!
