Writer's Tip: Writing Effective Sentences
Sentences—if the plot is the backbone of a story, then sentences are the muscles and tendons keeping it glued together. Unfortunately, writing solid sentences isn’t easy for everyone. As Human beings, we don’t speak the same way we write. Unless you do a lot of writing, you may have trouble putting together even the simplest of sentences. The last time you took a good look at a sentence and broke it down into its individual parts was probably around 3rd grade. Don’t worry—I’m here to help. There’s More Than One Type of Sentence There are (roughly) four different types of sentences, and we’re going to get into each of the different types (w...

For me, that editing process feels like a form of play, like a puzzle that needs solving, and it's one of the most satisfying parts of writing.”

How to write a summary
NOTE!: This is a random tutorial that I wrote because of all the people I know that say they can't write a summary. I have left plenty of other info in the artist comments so go read that if you must, now! Oh, and I am looking for errors so tell me if you spot any, I need to change them, ktnxsbai! -!-@-#-$-%-^-&-*-(-)-HEY! Have you always wanted to write a summary that was so good your readers read the summary more than your story? Well I hope not, then no one would be able to read the writing would they. But have no fear, although I may not be the most amazing writer ever Im sure I can give you some basic tips on how to write a good summ...

just makes it worse
because i realize
that shooting stars are actually

What is HTML? HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language. It's used when making a website, and available to use on deviantART to customise what you are writing.Once you memorise the HTML, it's pretty easy and fun to use.You can find some codes on the deviantART FAQ #104, but they don't give you all of them. You can use the codes I am about to give you in artist comments, journal entries, blog entries, profile pages, and more importantly comments!Literature pieces have less codes available to use than what I just mentioned, but there's still a fair few you can play around with. :)

Similar to how the lengths of chapters and paragraphs will change the way that your audience reads your story, sentence lengths will have a similar effect. The difference is that, unless you plan on writing constant run-on sentences (please don't) or are planning on writing literature for small children (elementary-school age) you don't need to worry about your sentences tiring people out. Writing Tips - Organisation
Writing Without Confusing Yourself (Or Your Readers)Writing is a very personal, individual undertaking. Everybody approaches the activity a bit differently from the next guy. Some people can come up with concept, plot, characters, and everything else and just sit down and write. Others need to take time to figure out what's going on; what's going to happen in the story, and how it all fits together. Others still will find themselves getting stuck somewhere along the middle, losing track of everything or changing an idea mid-way through, or never know how to end. These are the people for whom this has been put together. Those of you who can...

Writer's Tip: Show, don't tell.
Show, don’t tell (SDT). It’s one of the few consistent pieces of advice that all writers have heard at one time or another. Even the most amateur of writers parrot it back, but knowing the phrase doesn’t necessarily mean that we understand it, or how to implement it. So what does “Show, don’t tell.” really mean? SDT is the idea that instead of telling your readers what’s happening in a story, you show them. This seems like an abstract concept to most of us, but what it boils down to is this: using words to give your readers an idea without having to directly state it. There are many ways good writers do this. It can be as simple as addin...

Don't be angry or sad-
