quick question, lets say i have 1 stock of apple. i bought it at 110.00, is there a way to have the skin show my gains losses based on what i paid?

it's easily possible i have not set it up correctly as well.

love your skins by the way.

Mordasius's avatar

This skin can't do that. However, I have a skin which does exactly that using data from a different site. I could probably adapt it to show the prices from CNBC.com. How many stocks/indexes do you need on the skin?

HackitZ's avatar

I have 8 investments, so 8 would be great. Thanks for clearing that up for me and thanks for helping.

Okay. I've just posted something which maybe close to what you want on the Rainmeter Forum. If you are not already a member I suggest you join the group and then watch this post -> https://forum.rainmeter.net/viewtopic.php?f=135&t=36931&start=20

Awesome widget, but how do I add more companies?

I tried adding more in the "edit stocks" but they don't show up in the widget, I then tried editing the Widget Hight, but the free space only shows Blank space.

Have you plans to make a full side bar version or can this be edited to do this/

Thanks for the work,

This is quite doable but it will involve a little knowledge of Rainmeter coding. Fortunately there is always sympathetic help available on the Rainmeter Forums. I suggest you post your question as a reply on this thread -> https://forum.rainmeter.net/viewtopic.php?f=135&t=36931&start=20 where it will be much easier to help you make the necessary modifications. Cheers.

Thanks for the reply, I will visit the forum and post.

I can add Ethereum to my portfolio but Bitcoin wont go on there. Any ideas? Or specific ticker I should be using for BTC

Mordasius's avatar

I've added support for BitCoin prices in the latest version which you can download above. Please backup your Portfolio.inc file before you download the new version then check the new Portfolio.inc file for how to add Bitcoin.

Didn't even realize there was an update! Everything is great now. Thanks much

It is possible to convert currency's? All my stocks are in EUR but one is in dollars. And by broker converts them automaticly to EUR, but the skin will keep it in dollars, making my total sum wrong.

Mordasius's avatar

Not simple but I have a bit of spare time before the next EFT wipe so I might be able to help. Please send me a Note with a list of the stocks and what currency / conversion rate your dealer uses to get the numbers you need.

Hey, I love this skin! Thanks for keeping it updated! Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but I am unable to display the price of Monero, tried all variations I could think of "XMR/USD", "XMR-USD" "XMR" etc.

Mordasius's avatar

I don't think CNBC.com displays the price of cryptocurrency like Monero. If you can't find it on CNBC.com this skin can't display it.

nthpowerdesigns's avatar

Oh ok, that's too bad, it shows most of the cryptos

Maybe a stupid question, but is the lack of decimal intentional? For example, Galmed Pharm is listed as 473 -- rather than 4.73? In addition, at the time of writing, Apple is listed on the skin as 1,227 whereas 122.8 per CNBC. Is this an error?

Mordasius's avatar

That would be because this skin shows the value of your holdings rather than the prices. So 10 units of Apple @ 122.7 is shown as 1,227. Right-click on the skin -> Edit Stocks/Labels/Holdings -> edit the number of units held.

Thanks for all your work on this!

This is awesome. Thank you so much!!

Thanks so much for the new version to handle the changes at CNBC. For some reason, though, on my system, with the latest Rainmeter beta and the 16 January script, the Amazon valuation looks low in the test data. It's like somewhere the share price with four significant digits gets truncated to the first significant digit. The test data has 6.5 shares of Amazon, which is now around 3,120 each. The Total Value for Amazon shows 20, which is 3 x 6.5 rounded, rather than showing 3,120 x 6.5 or 20,280. My apologies if I'm missing something obvious, and thank you very much for the work that went into this!

Mordasius's avatar

Fixed. I suggest you make a backup of "Portfolio.inc" before you download and install the latest version above. Then copy all your changes from the backup into the "Portfolio.inc" file.

You're the person, Mordasius! :) Thank you for all your efforts!
