This version of the Market Prices rainmeter skin uses prices from CNBC.com.  You'll need the latest Release of Rainmeter,  which you can get from Rainmeter.net

The skin can track any number of stocks/indexes only limited by your screen resolution. You can change the stocks being monitored by right-clicking with your mouse anywhere on the skin -> then left-click on -> Edit Symbols.  The quotes roll-up out of sight when you click on the top-left icon. Click on the name of the index or stock to open the summary page on CNBC.com.

To help deal with error reports and requests for modification, I have posted the skin on the Rainmeter Forums.  If you want to report an error or are looking for a modification please post it on the Forums where it is much easier to add code snippets and the like. Thanks.

If you are interested in currency exchange rates please use the Currency Markets Skin.

Updated 28 August: Modified to display any number of stocks/indexes.

Looks like the link to the CNBC site has changed. maybe Edit .ini ex: https://www.cnbc.com/quotes/?symbol=#Symbol1# ---> https://www.cnbc.com/quotes/#Symbol1#

I'm sorry my English is not good enough.

This was working for me but today (1/14/21) it's no longer getting data. Double checked to make sure my changes hadn't reverted somehow and it was still in your suggested format. Did they change things yet AGAIN or are they blocking requests?

You are the man! Thank you!

Thank you. Problem solved.

Thank you! I just ran a search/replace after opening "Edit Skin". Worked great.

The skin stopped updating today. Anyone else having this problem?

I try to edit the ini file, to have more stocks in it, but whatever edit i make it defaults to 3?

Also, is it possible to only have the ticker, instead of the full name?

Thank you for your tool.

If someone also wants to see the IntercontinentalExchange (ICE), they need to adjust the relevant links from FOREX to ICE. Just a tip for understanding.

Shame I cant find any of the stocks I want :) Yahoo finance finds most stocks, why not use that?

Yes I agree Yahoo Finance has a greater selection of stocks to watch and I used to use it years ago but they kept changing the page format and so I shifted to Bloomberg and from there to CNBC.com. I may go back to see how accessible Yahoo is these days.

Looks like CNBC changed things up again. Thought I had a fix but still working on it...

The latest version is still working for me. Hopefully it was just a temporary glitch.....

yep, I think you're right--they were messing around with the URL structure right before the opening. I was getting parsing errors galore but it seems ok now.

Thanks a lot. I'm a financial trader and this is perfect!

Hmm. Well good luck to you my friend but if I was a financial trader I'd be looking for something updating in real time which this skin can unfortunately never do.

Bro, really thank you for a clean rainmeter skin. Bro, could you please add a graph to it , like if we click a stock we can get a price graph for it for the past one day like like one in the picture.

Mordasius's avatar

Yes I agree that would be a great addition. Unfortunately, it is not possible, or at least no easy feat. The line graphs come from java scripts embedded in the pages you see and they can't be easily read and displayed with Rainmeter. Sorry about that. You'll just have to click on the stock name and then view the graphics onthe CNBC.com pages.

Firstly, thanks for making a clean skin.

I just installed latest version of Rainmeter Beta. Loaded up the skin. However, when I right click on the skin and select "-> Edit Stock Labels" nothing happens. I assume a pop-up should come up?

I ended up just editing the .ini file and have it working now. I love it! What is the default interval on when it updates to pull updated stock prices?

Mordasius's avatar

When you left-click on -> Edit Stocks/Labels the CNBC-8.inc file should open in your text editor. Not really sure why the file didn't open for you - maybe you don't have an editor assigned to open files with the .inc extension. The default update interval is every ten minutes. It is best not to change this because you could get your IP blocked if you hit the CNBC.com site too often

Values do not update, either manually or 10-minute refresh. No errors indicated in log.

Mordasius's avatar

If the prices don't update or change with either a refresh or automatically every ten minutes it means the prices on the CNBC.com pages are not reporting any change. Please try left-clicking on the stock names to go to the CNBC page to check that the price shown there is the same as on the skin.

Thank you very much for this useful skin in an elegant design

Thanks for your great work!

Getting the prices from US "cnbc" means decimal separator "." and thousands of separator ",".

Ist there any way to get this transformed to the european way?

Tried to change it via "substitute", but seems I am not enough into it - sorry!
