Distortion-rb5 by Mordasius Distortion-rb5 by Mordasius
This collection of rainmeter skins was crafted to add a little more depth and perspective to your desktop than you'll get from other suites.

Before you install the rainmeter skins you MUST, repeat MUST,  install ImageMagik which you can download from here - use Win64 or Win32 dynamic at 16 bits-per-pixel.

Six of the skins use Brian's RunCommand Plugin to run a command-line version of ImageMagick but there is not too much of a performance hit as the most frequent update is the slide show which only updates once every nineteen seconds.

You will also need to install the latest Beta Release version of Rainmeter which you can download from here.

You can change the skin settings by right-clicking on the skins and looking for 'Custom Skin Actions' or left-clicking on blue triangles.  Just move your mouse around and you'll see a tooltip popup when you're in the right place.

The skins will only work on a 1920x1080 resolution desktop. The background, which is included in the .rmskin, is a colourised and much edited version of this wallpaper.

The plain weather icons are by MerlinTheRed.

NOTE: If you are having any problems with these skins please report them on the Rainmeter Forum page.  It will be very much easier to sort things out there.

I gave a link to the original wall above ->  www.wallchan.com/wallpaper/755…
I used Photoshop to edit the wallpaper and change the colour.

This doesn't work for me, not sure why. Manually enabling the skins (they don't show up). Compiled it into an .rmskin and installed (nothing showed up). Did install imagemagick before hand etc, so totally lost. Any suggestions?

1. Download and install the latest Beta Release version of Rainmeter from here.

2. Download and install the latest version of ImageMagick from here.

3. Restart your computer.

4. Download the .rmskin file from the link above. Once downloaded, double-click on the green .rmskin icon to activate the Rainmeter Skin Installer.  Be sure that the 'Skins', 'Layouts' and 'Apply included layout' check-boxes are all ticked then click on Install.  The wall and all the skins will load automatically.

If the date shows as 31st March 2014: Monday and the time shows 22:03 it means that ImageMagick is not changing the images and needs to be re-installed.

It sounds as though ImageMagick is not updating the images on your machine.  Follow the instructions above to be sure everything is properly installed. The rb5 version fixes the problem with the weather skin.

(1) check that you installed ImageMagik properly
(2) Go to the date and weather skins and click the middle mouse button or right-click and refresh skin.
If that doesn't work then you will have to go to the Distortion rb4 page on the Rainmeter forums where I can help you sort out whatever problem you are having.

Very well done... Question on ImageMagik:  Does the entire collection depend on it?

No. Only the time, date, musicplayer, weather, slide-show and feedreader skins use ImageMagick.  Imagemagik is NOT loaded permanently into memory. A command line version is run once each time the skins update. The date updates once per day, time once per minute, musicplayer at the end of a track, weather every fifteen minutes, slide-show every nineteen seconds and the feedreader once a minute.  The result is a series of small spikes in CPU usage.  I had to load a few other programs and get windows explorer searching two drives to get the 21% CPU usage shown in the screen shot.
