Verwood Manor

Those who had lived in its shadow know the terrible history of Verwood Manor. The estate has had a dark reputation starting with its founders: Lord Kaisellus and Lady Turmana, both said to be worshipers of the evil god Vecna. Their love of the Undead God is said to be why they insisted on having their lands as a graveyard as well. Over the generations, similar stories of similar ill repute have arisen. From scandalous affairs, hosting cult-like meetings and enacting feats of debauchery said to be unspeakable, and many deaths both gruesome and mysterious.

The last inhabitant of the manor was Lord Victarion Verwood, a genius scientist obsessed with breaking the laws between life and death through mental ingenuity. Disgusted with the family's archaic reputation, Victarion knew that mortals could conquer the elements with their minds and skills over magical arts. Not many had seen Lord Verwood during his time as he was often said to travel the world to uncover the secrets he sought. What few times he had returned to Verwood Manor were often incidents surrounded by more macabre events; including the attack of the "Verwood Monster". However, after his last trip away over ten years ago, Victarion had not returned.

To this day, Verwood Manor still sits and waits with all its dark secrets held within. Many say that the house awaits the return of its master to unleash its horrors on the world. Others say that it simply wishes for a new caretaker, one with the same horrid mortality as the Verwoods that have come before. Regardless, all agree the manor still stands and seems hungry for any brave enough to approach.
