Kookaburra 1 by Mop-of-the-Bucket Kookaburra 1 by Mop-of-the-Bucket
If you've seen my other photo (with the uninspired name), Botanical Birds, then you'll no doubt -no doubt at all- be interested in knowing that this tree you see a kookaburra perched in is the very tree the birds in that other photo were under. Phoar. Yes. I know. My photos are like the characters from Lost, with all their brief but exciting and probably entirely irrelevant connections to each other.

Anyway, this was one of the last photos I took of the kookaburra since I imagined that it would probably like to be left in peace instead of followed across the Botanical Gardens.

The other, earlier photos I took? SOON!

Kookaburras are fantastic birds. Partly because of their larrikin laugh- what better than a bird who has a sense of humour- and also because of their soft, fluffy looks. You almost forget that these things BEAK SNAKES IN HALF. And that makes them all the more awesome.

And this is a wonderful photo, too. Well composed, and nice use of depth of field. These botanical gardens seem to be made of win and awesome.
