I have to say that the first thing that drew me in about this shot was the eye, which is so full of interest and life. You really helped that come across.
VISION:
This image looks like you really thought the idea through, and made a good judgment when it came to which shot was the best for the mood and look you were trying to convey.
ORIGINALITY:
Though there are quite a few images of cats looking up or to one side or the other, I think that you brought in some subtle changes and really made the image your own. The interest as well as originality factor may have been increased a bit through by choosing maybe a slightly different angle, but again, it really depends on the look and feel you are trying to go for.
TECHNIQUE:
Your technique really shines through in this photo. You used the "Rule of Thirds" effectively, and I really liked the way you framed the overall shot (with one side having more weight than the other and, looking at the vertical cropping, the way the head and ears are shown completely). Your choice of using black and white for this image definitely heightens the impact, though I would have liked to see maybe slightly more contrast. The detail is superb, with the face fully in focus.
IMPACT:
All in all, I feel the impact is quite high; for fans of cats or just of animals, they can see the amount of respect you have for the subject.
