Summary
On the verge of loosing hope, Renata's faith is restored again as one god reaches out to her.
Renata had prayed many one time. She had prayed for every pegasus soul that was lost to the sea. She had prayed for the safety of daughter, her family, the horses that still resided in the herd. She had wished for the leaders of the Talori herd to reconsider, to see the error in their ways. She had prayed and prayed and prayed. Prayed till she lost faith and then some more. She no longer sent her thoughts or words to a single god. Cause after all these years she was not sure who still listened or if anyone ever listened at all. Was there no god that cared enough? None that sympathized with her hurt? None that turned a listening ear towards her supplications? It became harder with each passing year to bear and she had slowly started to believe the gods had long abandoned the horses that walked the land, only leaving their magic. Her prayers had become desperate cries of the heart, begging for anyone to listen, to hear. Willing for a sign that they had not been forsaken. That the gods still watched.
She had almost given up, but then one god answered.
Long have you prayed that the sea goddess would deem you worthy of a gift, and long have your prayers gone un-answered. Tonight seems different though. As you hesitantly walk towards Cascade's shine, the light of the full moon shines down upon it, giving it a glowing appearance. Will she hear your whispered longing tonight?
"Great Cascade, Mother of the Talori and Goddess of the seas, please hear my prayer and find your servant worthy of your blessing..."
The quiet of the night is less than encouraging as you wait, and after what seems like an eternity, you prepare to go home empty hoofed once again.
As you sadly turn, a gentle rain begins to fall from the heavens, almost embracing you as a gentle voice breaks the silence.
"I have heard you, my child, and I think you may well be ready to foster the blessing I've prepared for you." The strong, melodic voice says before pausing as if in thought. After years of waiting, Cascade has finally heard your prayer. "You are like an oyster, and your faith and patience like a grain of sand turning into a marvelous pearl....Let me see what lies within you…
...So many wonderful qualities are teeming with life just below your surface, but only one is meant to evolve into something even more beautiful at this time..."
Maybe it is Healing Regeneration that beckons you, seeing as you are constantly seeking to aid those around you, healing them as best you can with the limited knowledge you have? Such a blessing would make it easier to care for those in need of aid more effectively. You are a healer at heart, and this blessing would give you resources you could have never dreamed of.
But perhaps you are more suited to Clairvoyance, on account of you always looking ahead towards the future? This blessing could keep many you love from being injured needlessly, as you will be able to see glimpses of possible futures, allowing you time to prepare.
Which blessing do you desire, my child? Take your time and choose wisely, the blessing you choose is like the sea, vast, unending, and full of possibility.
Renata's eyes widened as the voice of no other than the wave mother's reached her ears. Her breath catching in her throath, she needed a moment to reply.
What would make a better blessing? Her legs were shaking, not quite able to believe it was finally happening, that after all these years she got a reply.
To heal or to see the future? She contemplated. She had always healed. The care for others was something she took pride in. It was her calling, even her destiny to do so, she believed. It was tempting to choose something to aid her in this, a blessing in which she'd follow into Isis' footsteps. But then the future is what had always worried her. It was the unknown she feared and now she was offered the opportunity to catch a glimps of it. She closed her eyes for a second before her mind settled.
She would always heal even without blessing, but without blessing the future lay beyond her.
She opened her eyes.
"Dear mother Cascade, please grant me clairvoyance."
"A wise choice my daughter, may this blessing serve you well in the coming days." The voice fades away after that, leaving you with only the gentle sound of the rain as it falls once more.
It was quiet again and as she felt the rain patter softly down her coat, Renata turned her head skywarts. The falling droplets effectivally masked the tears that rolled down her face and she smiled, for she had been given a sign that she indeed was heard.
"Thank you."
