You're pretty easy on the eyes..what breed are you?
Cecillia brings her head up as you approach her, her ears perking towards your voice. Her ear flicks at your question. “Hi.” She says curiously, trying to stall and buy herself some time. When buying more time doesn’t work, she smiles sheepishly. “I have no idea,” she admits. She turns around slowly, like a model would do when wanting to give you a good look at her clothes. “What breed do you think I am?” she asks, curiosity sparked. “Mom told me my pelt is really light in color, though I have no idea what she means.” She bites her lip, thinking. “I think she called it cream?” She looks unsure, bobbing her head from side to side. “My mane are light too or so she says. It’s really hard to tell. I think my coat is pretty soft though.” She smiles, more confident now. “My manes are pretty fluffy. I sometimes try to fluff up my tail too, but it can be hard to reach.” As if to make a point, she demonstrates to you how difficult it is to get to it, stretching her neck as far as it will go. She sighs when she can only just manage to reach it with her teeth. She breathes out, making the hairs fly around. “Maybe if I grow it longer, I can reach it better.” She giggles. “I want a long tail like Ciel does.” She confesses.
She frowns again, thinking about what more to say. “Euhm…Oh, I know! I’m a unicorn! Look.” She wiggles her head. “I have a horn…euhm, somewhere on there! I know ‘cause…” She lowers her voice in a conspiring fashion, urging you to lean in. “I prick horses with it sometimes if I forget.” After that she quickly jerks her head back, shaking it and almost taking your eye out in the progress as if to demonstrate her point. She doesn’t seem to be aware as she giggles. “Don’t tell anyone, okay? I’m sure it’ll will go away when I grow longer. Maybe my horn will grow too then? I’m gonna grow too, you know?! Now I’m this tall.” She vagually dips her nose in front of here, trying to convey her current height. “But I’m gonna grow at least this tall.” She stretches her little neck as far up as it will go, sticking her nose in the air and rearing a bit. “Just like mom.”
How beautiful! Tell us a little about you. What are your strengths? Weaknesses?
“You want to know how strong I am?” the filly asks surprised. When you correct her and repeat the question, she nods. “Oh, I see. Like what good at, right?” She smiles as you confirm she got it right this time. Then her forehead wrinkles slightly as she thinks it through. “I… I think I might be good in… Oh, I know, I’m a good adventurer!” She nods, completely convinced. “I went on an adventure with other horses, like Ciel and Sir Ozzer and then mister Blaine and miss Semora and oh, and mister Aremis too –he’s a priest you know- and then we were walking and the cave collapsed. But we totally made it and that makes me a good adventurer, right?” She pauses, turning her head at you, hoping for confirmation. Before you can however, she remembers something and carries on. “My parents were really mad that I went alone. But I think it’s important to meet all the herd horses. I’m good at that as well. It’s ‘cause I’m from the royal family, you see and I need to become a really good one, so I need to know the herd.” She nods again, here favorite visual gesture, she knows nodding often makes other like you. Also it was great for acting like you listened when you don’t. She frowns after that. “My parents say I shouldn’t be going off like that. They say it’s dangerous because-“ she suddenly stops, pressing her lips together and scowling. “-because I’m blind! They don’t know what it’s like, so how can they know? I can do stuff just fine and okay, maybe I got lost once or thrice, but I always get home and okay, I have run into stuff and horses before, but nothing serious. I just don’t get why they are so…so…so like that about it!” She stands there fuming for a minute, before she remembers that wasn’t really what you asked. She breathes out, sheepish smile on her face. “Sorry, that wasn’t really an answer, was it? I guess being blind really kinda counts as a less good thing, but it’s not that bad.” She falls quiet again, thinking for a couple of minutes. “I don’t really know what else I’m bad at,” she admits. “It’s really hard to tell what good and what’s bad, you know? It really depends on what you think is bad. Maybe that’s something I’m bad at or maybe it’s good that things are not all bad all the time but sometimes also good.” She stops, only confusing herself with her own reasoning.
It's good to know more about you. Are you religious? Who's your patron god?
“Patron god?” She echoes. “Dad says all the gods are important, though Argus is the one that protects our herd. We went to visit his shrine, but I don’t know if he heard me. He’s really good friends with Ciel though! They used to play together when Ciel was little, he told me, so I’m sure Argus is really nice! My teacher said he made magic, though I’m a little confused ‘cause I thought all the gods had magic, but my teacher said it was a different more mysterious kind. I guess I don’t really understand what she meant, but I’ll figure it out sometime. Maybe he’ll even bless me if I ask nicely!” She seems to really like that idea. “Kaia is another god, well goddess, she made the unicorns, so that means she kinda made me too right? I really like her ‘cause she made the ground. Imagine we would walk on air! You can’t really feel air, well except maybe of it’s hot or cold, but you can’t touch it so it would be really really hard for me to do things if there wasn’t any ground! Besides Dad told me Kaia and Argus worked together to make the crystals and everyone is always going on about them –though I really can’t tell what’s so special- so I bet she and Argus are good friends.” She nods, then gets an excited look on her face. “Oh, I want her to give me a blessing like Sir Ozzer. He can tell stuff through the ground. It’d be so cool if I could do that! I’d be able to walk around a lot easier if I had that.” Her face falls a bit. “I asked after we got back but she didn’t answer.” Then her ears perk up again, looking determined. “But I’ll just ask more and maybe she was just buzzy with everyone else asking stuff.” She gets this thoughtful look, ears twitching. “Actually, they all must be really really buzzy, huh? With everyone asking stuff all the time? Wow, maybe they should get a day of or something! I bet Cascade and Alya are buzzy as well. Cascade gives us water and Alya air, so they’re important too. If we didn’t have that we would be thirsty and have to hold our breaths all the time!” She looks a bit horrified at the thought. “So you see, all of them are important really so we should respect them all.”
Hm, to each their own. What about your home? What does it look like?
“Oh, you want to know about Nariah? Or the palace? Both? Alright!” She smiles, the touches, smells and tastes of her home and city coming to her. “I live in the palace,” she starts to explain. “The palace itself is rather big if you ask me. There’s a lot of rooms and a lot of horses. My chamber is especially nice. It’s close to my parent’s and I have a thick fluffy pillow to lie on. I also have a couple of toys there, like this ball, oh and this thing that makes music if I pull the strings. It also is all open and has round corners. Mom says they made it like that to make it safe for when I was smaller. The palace I know by heart. I really spent a lot of time wandering in it, so I know it a lot better than Nariah. There’s really nice horses there, especially the help, they…well, help you around when you need it and there’s also ones who make really nice food. Oh, and this one horse even read me stories for a bit when she could. She was really nice.” She is quiet for a bit, no doubt remembering about the stories she had been told. Then she slowly returns, attention back to you. “Oh, right, hmm. Nariah I don’t really know as wel as the palace, but I go around. It has a lot of nice horses and I love it ‘cause there always seems to be chattering and sounds of horses working. I love seeking out the parts where they cook stuff ‘cause it smells so good and sometimes horses play instruments and that’s really nice as well.” She closes her eyes and stretches her neck a bit as if actually smelling something. “I heard that if you take the tunnels, you can go to other cities, but I’ve never been there. I’ve heard some artists talk once, about the city Sterling. They were talking about going there where all the artists go. I’d really like to go sometime and hear for myself, but my parents’ won’t allow me to go in the tunnels alone…” That doesn’t seem to be a thing she agrees with. “Argus’ temple is away from here too. Well, the really big one at least. There’s temples here too, scattered through the city and a lot of little shrines too so I guess you don’t really need to go that far.”
Lovely! Do you have a familiar? If not, show us the familiar you'd like to have.
"I do actually! A domesticated dog! His name is Aiko and my mom said he's a mix between a shiba inu and an akita. I'm not sure what those are like, but Aiko is great! We can't really talk to each other, but he barks and I think he really understands me. He's a really fun one 'cause he likes to go out and explore with me. My parents said they especially trained him to help me out and I really like that. He warns me when I'm about to run into someone or something and sometimes shows me routes I missed. He's not always nice though. He's really stubborn and he doesn't like it when I don't pay attention or go to fast and sometimes if I really do things he doesn't like he nips at my ankles. Not hard or anything though. He's not that mean." She shakes her head wildly, not wanting you to think Aiko is a bad dog.
"He is really nice. Sometimes he sneaks in my room and comes to lie on my cushions with me. Mom doesn't like that, saying he has his own bed. He does, a nice one at that, but it's just fun to cuddle with him. Mom doesn't understand." She pouts then smiles. “I’m glad they got me him though. He’s good to go around with and he’s soft too. Mom says should actually have trained longer than he did, but after I went to temple of Argus they gave him to me early. I think he was supposed to come on my birthday. Maybe Argus sent him to me as a sign is what I thought! To show he wasn’t angry at us I mean when the tunnels collapsed.” She had tensed a bit at mentioning the accident, but the notion of Aiko being a sign relaxed her. Suddenly she gets this mischievous look on her face as she lowers her voice. “He isn’t here, isn’t he? Aiko,” she whispers in what’s supposed to be a quiet tone. When you confirm he isn’t, she giggles. “I wanted to tell he is a bit of spoiled dog and he really likes to be dramatic. Like one time I accidently walked into him and he got all whiney. I thought I had really hurt him! But mom said he was just fine and being dramatic. Still he wouldn’t do anything but lie on his pillow that time and have his belly scratched. It was a little funny, but don’t tell him that.”
Do you like your herd? What about your leader?
Cecillia’s ear perk up at that question, blind eyes seeming to shine for a second and a huge smile overtaking her face. “Breim is my herd’s name and it is just great.” She gets excited and starts moving around as she speaks. “We have all kind of horses! There’s really smart ones who make stuff or heal, well, there’s two of those: healers and doctors. My parents seem to like healers better, but they still had a doctor visit me: that’s Ciel. He’s really funny and smart too! Then there’s the royal family horses, like my parents and me! We need to take care of the horses in our herd, make sure everyone is happy and there’s no fight. We help King Hajime that way. Cool, huh?” Her little chest swells with pride as she tells you her job within the herd. “Oh, you wanted about him too, right? King Hajime is a good horse, though dad said he’s still young and needs to learn, he also said he will be a good king. I kinda think they advise him in some way or something? I’m not sure since that’s kinda what the guides of the king do, but still they were called in by him last time…” She trails off, clearly unsure about the matter. “I heard there’s going to be a special…euhm, what did they call it? Agreement? With Serora herd –that’s this herd that isn’t Breim and is far away- they’re coming to far crops here. I heard they didn’t have a lot for themselves, so that real nice of our herd, right? I tried asking mom if we could go look, but she said it was too far and I should stay here.” She pouts again not happy with her parent’s decision. “We don’t only have that though, we also have lots of other horses. Like makers, they make stuff, like music and art and things called books. I don’t always understand what’s so great about it, but a lot of horses do. And then we have all the other herd horses like Magi and Priest and priestess. They make sure the gods take care of us and tell stories and stuff. We’ve also got miners who work in the tunnels. Oh, and teachers and salesman. Because we’re a nice herd we also take in outsiders. Sometimes horses can be a bit mean to them, but I’m sure everyone is treated well enough, they just want to test if they’re really like us…I think.”
Last but not least... What blessings do you hope to earn?
“Blessing? Ooh…” That question seems to be difficult to answer and it takes her a couple of minutes of frowning and eyebrow raising to give a reply. Eventually though after multiple times of opening and closing of her mouth, she manages to form a sentence. “I kinda want the blessing from Kaia like sir Ozzer has. I told you before right? How he can feel the horses around him? Well, I think that would be really great ‘cause I could tell where everything was and no longer run into things. Maybe I could tell who’s coming even before they arrive, imagine how surprised everyone would be!” She giggles, apparently finding amusement in the idea of surprising whoever it is she would want to. “Yeah, that’d be really fun. For others I’m not sure. I know our herd’s god Argus gives out this gift that connects you to a bird. I know because they hold special ceremonies for it. It’s, hmmm, the Sight, yes. My teacher told me once that was the first blessing ever to be given when our ancestors walked into these tunnels so it’s important because of that. I guess it’d be kinda nice to have because of that, also maybe it’d be kinda cool to see what a bird sees. I’m not sure if it’d work on me though, since I don’t really see. I’m not sure I want to either.” Her tone gets quieter unsure. “I mean, it’s strange, but it’s kinda scary. What if I suddenly see. Maybe I’ll be sad that I can’t on my own. It’s not hard right now, because I don’t know how it is for others, but my parents always go on about how sad it is and if I could only. I don’t wanna be like that…” Her voice dies down and she looks sad, a small tear rolling down her cheek. Then she smiles watery. “I’m sure the gods will give me something nice. I’m not sure I could use a lot of the things others have. I’d be pretty bad with plant controlling for example since it’d be hard to tell where they are going if I can’t see. Everyone always told me the gods are wise and kind, so whatever they pick for me, I’m sure will be great and also just right for me so I don’t end up having something I can’t do nothing with.” She smiles, back happy. “Thanks for talking to me, it was nice to meet you. I need to go back home now, but next time tell me a little more about you, huh?”
I so hope she gets tremor sense one day. Ozzer would absolutely give her his blessing if he could. And he would be more than willing to teach her how to use it if she gets it!
