Leonardo

Leon was very astounded when it happened, but seeing how everything was the same except for those new creatures, he quickly took it as an opportunity to discover more about them. His research on gem imbuement quickly started to include these new creature's abilities as he searched for ways to capture and imbed their own kind of magic. Of course he on more than occasion visited the tunnels around Breim to discover suitable subjects and register the different types of magic they have. He soon started noticing that they were not unlike familiars in the sense that they were intelligent and were open to forming bonds with horses. He started promoting doing just this. When horses started to use the poor creatures for battle he was highly opposed to the notion. Also casual trade he found to be disgusting. He has since joined the pokémon welfare organisation hetp (Horses for the Ethical Treatment of Pokémon) and is a loud supporter of their rights. He leaves his own pokémon outside their pokéballs and he asks them things rather than order them. They usually are more than happy to assist him in his work. His currently has befriended six of them and thinks that's about his limit.

Noivern - Opal

His first encounter was with a little Noibat girl deep within the tunnels of Sirith. The little thing had come fluttering towards him in high speed and with a boulder coming behind her at high speed, it was no wonder. He quickly took off running himself and the two made a mad dash for it. Thanks to Leon's quick thinking, the two managed to escape into a side tunnel as the boulder rushed by. The little noibat has clung to him ever since. She proved to be a big help blowing up stones and in return Leonardo offered her a place in his home, giving her the name Opal. Lately that means the space has become rather cramped as Opal  has evolved into the much bigger Noivern. She tends to scare people now when she sticks her head through the door when Leon opens the door. She has become rather heavy to carry as well. Most of the time she's pleasant enough but she can have quite the temper and throws fits at times. The fruit stand has become Leon's go to stop as fruit is usually the only thing that can calm her down. He loves his Opal to death though and has even has a perch built on his house for her to sit on. Lately he has been considering moving though as space has become an issue.

Golem - Beryl

That boulder that rushed by on that faithful day that he encountered Opal wasn't so much a boulder as another kind of pokémon it turned out. And Breim soon got to deal with them. As long as the golems kept to themselves, they weren't very harmful to the herd's horses. They stuck to the tunnels that were. When they left them however, that's when problems started. More than one home was lost to the rolling beasts and they were soon marked a thread to the hurt. Many ways were discussed to take care of the problem, but eventually it was simply settled that the creatures just needed guidance and deep ridges were carved out all around the city to keep them from plowing into houses. At one point a golem got stuck in the unfinished works and it took several horses to free him. Leonardo who is an expert on 'stones' was giving the golem to patch him up. Instead of eventually leaving however the golem, who got the nickname Beryl, took interest in Leon's gems and stuck with him. He now adorns his rocky coat with them. He tends to babysit the younger pokémon around, acting like the mature and serious one. Daily he goes on a roll around town which he very much enjoys.

Onyx - Chrome

With the ridges at first not good enough to keep the golem on their paths, it was soon decided more help was needed. They ventured in the tunnels again to see if any of the pokémon could be of help. Their salvation seemed to lay with a trouble maker called onyx. These pokémon had proven to be a problem as they carved out new tunnels, making the labyrinth even more dangerous and confusing as before and forcing the Breimians to take a marking system in use. With their in the meantime newly acquired pokémon the onyx were hunted down and captured one by one. HETP members were present to ensure the capturing stayed within the boundaries of the humane. As it was Leon managed to secure one of the Onyx as his own. The big beast which got the name of Chrome soon proofed to be grumpy but listened well enough. The ridges were carved and Leon convinced the pokémon to stay by his side. Because he was truly to big to stay inside, a rocky shelter was built next to Leonardo's home. Chrome usually is the one who accompanies Leon on his tunnel trips, knocking stray boulders out of the way or even carrying his trainer for short periods of time.

Swellow - Topaz

Leonardo was out for a late night walk after going to a party when he heard the most pitiful of cries pierce the night. It was so he found a little taillow who lonesome and hungry sat perched on a roof. Heart aching for the young pokémon, he quickly went home to fetch something to feed the small bird. It immediately attached itself to his side after that, making a habit of landing on his head and demanding even more food. Eventually giving up on trying the little lady to rejoin her kind that nestled plentiful on Nariah’s cave wall, he allowed her to build a nest on his house. She was nicknamed Topaz and became his loyal flying companion, enjoying doing all kind of tricks in the air and often challaging him into races. Ever since she evolved into swallow, she has become a little too large to sit on Leon’s head, but don’t think that is stopping her, no. His friends often joke around that his hair is just too much like a bird’s nest and that she soon will try to -Argus forbid- lay an egg in it. Topaz isn’t phased in the slightest and just continues her childlike antics.

Murkrow - Malachite

This mischievous guy wasn’t so much allowed to join Leon in his home as he worked his own way in. It was a little after Topaz made her nest with him that Leonardo noticed that time and time again different objects from his house seemed to go missing. Especially his gem collection seemed to be the victim of the disappearances but also other objects such as a vase he got from his father and even a lamp disappeared. The crimes were reported and everyone was soon enough on the lookout for the thief. He seemed elusive though, nobody able to catch him, well not until Leon started the project of prettying up Chrome’s shelter as he seemed to want pretty gems just like Beryl. Atop of it, in a small crease between the rocks, Leon found all his stuff and more piled together. He was puzzled why a thief would stash it so close to the place of crime, let alone keep it so long. That was until the star thief made itself know with loud cries and protests as he and some other horses cleared the pile and wanted to return everything to those who lost it. A murkrow came sweeping down, tears in his eyes about his shinies getting taken away. After giving him a stern talking to, Leo took pity on the bird Pokémon and offered him a place to live. He was named Malachite and now has his very own gem collection.

Aron - Pyrite

The youngest member of the team is a small aron. The little thing was found snooping from Breimian construction because he was hungry. Leonardo as member of HETP was called in for the case and he quickly found a way around by feeding it useless scraps that would be thrown away as well as learning it to dig up ore in exchange for food. He was named pyrite and quickly became the baby of the family, Leon fussing over them a lot. During the day he is left under the care of the miners where he does his iron digging duty, the pokémon finding it quite fun. If he’s tired, he can take a nap in his “nest” as Leonardo calls it. It’s a little box, stuffed with blankets which Leon especially commissioned for him. It goes everywhere with him. On his off days Pyrite gets to observe Leonardo’s experimenting or he is taken out on visits to Sato, even the old grump having softened up to the cold little iron eater. He swears that Pyrite has good tastes but warns Leon to keep him away from his constructions. Pyrite himself is quite happy with his family and his little belly is never empty again.
