2.4. Have you had a spiritual experience?

It wasn't fair. Though Renata had managed to escape back to the mountain, were she watched and waited amonst few of her friends, she wasn't content with their situation at all. Somehow they had gotten what they wanted. Only it wasn't what she had wanted at all. It was what she had thought she had wanted, but it was not what she had invisioned. There the Serorans were, guiding the change they had fought for so hard. Managing to do so almost too peacefully when it had cost themselves so much blood and tears. Everything they could have wanted, only they would not be part of it.

Renata had hoped somehow that the Serorans would see reason and join them. They were children of Alya after all, how could not find their cause to be right. Sure their sultan had kept their word and kept them safe, but how?! As prisoners. As she sat there, watching from afar, with her son whisked away to foreign lands, Renata could feel her heart grow bitter. What good was safety when the only way was imprisonment? What good was their escape when they could only watch? What good was peace when her children didn't get to be part it? What good was their cause if they just settled for this? What good was her blessing when she could not forsee what came?

Too many questions, too little answers and what actually came next she could only wonder about. But then she felt a flash of hope as she remembered what she had been given, a gift to actually see what was coming next. It was weak, but it was there and perhaps in the future, it could give an answer. As she overlooked the aerie and what remained of her family under the light of the rising sun, she decided it was the dawn of a new day and that meant the start of something new as well.
