AUTHOR'S FOREWORD: Dear readers...while ordinarily I would never ignore or skirt over important historical facts - no matter how uncomfortable they might be - given the fantastical elements of this show, elections that its creator made (or ignored), and theory based on hard genetic fact, I have chosen to ignore a very specific detail about marriages and Pharaohs in Ancient Egypt. The majority of this was composed before I became as familiar with the series' anime counterparts - I'm currently working through Season 3 - thus, while I have chosen to use the dub names, some of the characters' traits in fact come from their manga incarnations. I also use the original timespan of 3ooo years rather than 4Kids' 5000 years. Not only does it make more sense, but Atem's real-life inspiration - the famous King Tut - lived 3300 years ago.
