UPDATE: The Winners !

Please join us in congratulating the winners of our DeviantArt Academy Scavenger Hunt!

DanielaIvanova
Yuukon
RTNightmare

Also, a special THANK YOU from our team to SmolSalty for creating our Graduation Fella mascot for this contest!

Thank you to everyone that participated, it was a lot of fun for us
___________________________________________________________

Welcome to DeviantArt Academy!

Let me introduce myself! My name is Danielle and I am your dedicated Guidance Counselor. It seems we have come to the end of your high school experience -- Senior year! I have come to see you all as my children and as such I will miss you but I know you're about to embark onto bigger things. That said, we still have something special to experience together -- Prom! This year's prom is themed around success, growing up and achieving the important milestone that is graduation.

We just have one little problem....and I am going to need your help solving it!

Fella, our dedicated school mascot has disappeared! OMG It seems a rival school may have cut him into little pieces and hidden him throughout our very own school grounds! I think I've fainted. Obviously, we cannot have a prom without our beloved mascot pieced back together and ready to celebrate with us....please, oh please, will you help us?

How it works

Some of the beloved staff of DeviantArt Academy went undercover, as spies, to find key clues as to where Fella's bits and pieces had been hidden! You'll need to search school grounds and school staff to find these clues that will lead you to Fella's discarded parts. Forgotten the layout of the school and who are staff are? Fear not, we have this handy list for you:

The Principal
The Principal's Office
The Assistant Principal
The Guidance Counselor
The Art Teacher
The Science Teacher
The School Nurse
The Janitor
The School Psychologist
A Locker
The Library
The Gymnasium
The Lunch Lady

What to do

Go to each profile page listed above. The staff members or school ground locations will have a clue hidden on their page telling you where you will find a piece of Fella. Oftentimes, the clue will involve solving a puzzle or a riddle of sorts. Keep going until you find every broken piece of Fella so that you can put him back together in time for Prom! Party

Careful, though, Fella's pieces could be hidden ANYWHERE on DeviantArt so you will need to very carefully analyze and understand each clue you find on school staff or school grounds! Ninja

Hurry Up!

You have until August 7th at 11:59 PM PST (Los Angeles) to find all of Fella's pieces and assemble him back together. Once you've done that, send the image of Fella whole again to our Principal!

The Rules

  • Work alone. The 3 first participants to send Fella put back together to the Principal will be the winners -- you don't want to risk not making it into that top 3 by helping other people.
  • You may NOT note any of the other school staff or school grounds to ask them where their clue or puzzle (Fella) piece is.
  • You may only come to me (Moonbeam13) for more hints and tips. But you can only ask me ONE question per day (so 3 questions TOTAL), otherwise, you're off to detention!
  • Turn in the image of Fella assembled back together to The Principal by August 7th by 11:59 PM PST (Los Angeles).
  • So to recap -  The only 2 people you should ever note for this game are either me (the guidance counselor) if you are in dire need for help and the Principal, once you have completed the game and can turn in our Fella that has been put back together.
  • Again, seriously, don't send notes to people. They won't answer anyways Stare

Prizing

Now you might be wondering why on earth you'd put in so much time and effort to find and save our dear mascot Fella...well beyond saving the day and helping DeviantArt Academy's Prom go forward...I will also be awarding 2,000 points and a 6-month premium membership each to the 3 first people to send a fixed Fella to the Principal!

Lost and confused?

As I've already mentioned, if you find yourself dazed and confused walking through these high school hallways, fear not, the guidance counselor's door is always open. BUT, like I said, I have quite a busy schedule planning Prom and all the rest of our graduation shenanigans. You'll need to be patient, and might I add that if you bombard me with questions, I might just send you to detention, where I hear few souls have ventured out of in the past ten years or so, but seriously, you get to ask me 1 question per day kids.

P.S:

Keep an eye out for chat and forum games on the 7th of August for chances to win extra prizes and have some extra high school fun! La la la la

To celebrate DeviantArt's 18th Birthday, the Community Relations team is hosting a scavenger hunt! Get your thinking caps on and try not to land yourself in detention :D

I had fun participating despite very frustrating but not sure if I will do this again unless the 3 winners are chosen at random from successful submissions. I didn't see this until 6 hours after it was posted and I think by then the winners were already determined. I'm a bit sad that I spent hours doing this and got nothing but mostly I am okay with that. I have the satisfaction of getting this correctly done but still sad that my efforts were in vain.

The treasure hunt was a super awesome idea and organized with a lot of care. I loved the Science teacher part, it was super entertaining. I only wish it was popularized more.

Big congrats to Yuukon (who initially told me about the hunt) and RTNightmare for the win, too! Well done, guys!

Yeah I only noticed this from BeccaJS 's status, that's already hours after the journal's published (that, or I just happened to be online hours later.. -___-), and from the most-hidden sta.sh file's pageview count up to now it's still rather a low participation rate..

But aside from early-bird luck you also need intelligence to find and solve it all, so congrats indeed. :D

But dang, with HOW MANY people normally take part in this, I thought it would be a miracle. I finished in about five hours. I can't imagine how long you and Yuukon took. Eclipse Change Log: November 28, 2018

Thank you for your continued feedback and bug reports on DeviantArt Eclipse!

Our team has been working on customization and personalization options and we have brainstorming sessions planned where we’ll be further discussing how you’ll be able to customize and personalize your profile in Eclipse. We’ve been gathering and sorting your feedback, including the top ways you use Custom Box, and we’ll be reviewing it in these brainstorm sessions. We will have more to share soon!

In the meantime, we’re still working on other customization features already in the design stages, including editing your bio and custom cropping of your profile header art. We’ve seen some creative ways people are featuring single deviations on their profile (for example, see @ellysiumn and @katy-l-wood’s profiles), and we’re working on the ability to more-easily feature a single deviation on your profile.

Here’s this week’s change log!

Change Log

Header art quality on profiles has improved. If your header art is blurry, ensure that the original deviation is available as high resolution under “Display Options.” (Thanks, @queen-kitty, @titusweiss, @kaleidechse, @battlefairies, @yuukon, and several others who brought this up!)Fixed issues where typing in a URL in a Journals, comment, or Status Update would display the URL twice.Removed minimum character limit from Status Updates, allowing you to post a Status Update that just includes a deviation, gallery, video, or emoticon. You can now open and close Commissions from the individual Commission page.A “back to top” button added to galleries and browse pages.Badge pages are back! After posting a comment, the browser now scrolls to your comment. The toggle for Mature Content now reads “Show Mature Content” instead of “Mature Content” to prevent confusion. (Thanks for the tip, @rotane and @uszatyarbuz!)Fixed issue where tooltips would not display when hovering over the Add Deviation/Gallery/Video/Emoticon buttons on Comments, Journals, or Status Updates.Fixed issue where the “Send Note” button on profiles would open a new note with no recipient. (Thanks for spotting, @nominee84 and @mrs-durden!)Fixed issue where literature Daily Deviations displayed title twice. (Good catch, @3wyl!)The header image for Commissions is now centered.Updated the design of the “I’m open for commissions” button to make it look more prominent and clickable.Fixed issue where bolded text in comments would appear as a different color but not bold. After clearing out your notifications, the “no notifications here right now” message would be misaligned. (Thanks, @starlighthawk, @ikazon, and @sweetchimera!)Various other smaller bug fixes and changes.

Eclipse Change Log: January 9, 2019

Happy New Year, and welcome to 2019, deviants! We hope everyone had a relaxing and fun holiday, and we can’t wait to dive into this year’s updates and fixes!

Before we get into this week’s change log, we’d like to inform you of some major upcoming Eclipse-related updates, which will be highlighted and discussed in separate journals outside of the regular change logs. Some of these major updates include:

Custom boxes / customizationFeedback & WatchLiteratureAdditional Profile personalization

These are fairly significant updates to DeviantArt Eclipse that we look forward to communicating and sharing with you all in the upcoming weeks, so keep your eyes open! Without further delay, here are this week’s changes and bug fixes:

Change Log

Eclipse Change Log: January 30, 2019In this week's change log, we have a small handful of bug fixes and improvements as we continue with the larger features that are in development. Stay tuned for more, and keep the bug reports and feature requests coming!Change LogThe "add to favorites" panel on deviation pages now allows you to select multiple collections. (Popular request, suggested by @kage-niji, @sa6044, @tanyasimpson, and many others)Bios are now editable!Literature thumbnails now include four lines of preview text. (Suggested by @wynbird, @battlefairies, and many others)On the Daily Deviations page, literature now includes preview text. Various other smaller bug fixes and stability improvementsThe new "add to favorites" panel lets you easily add a deviation to many Collections. (Artwork: hidden view by @umbatman)Literature thumbs — including on the Daily Deviations page — now include preview text.Using the New Bio EditorTry the new Eclipse bio editor! When adding a bio to your Eclipse profile, we'll start you off with your bio from the old site. Please keep in mind that some elements, such as thumbnails, were not able to be transitioned to the new editor, however you can still add them to your bio. We recommend trying the new image and gallery features to share your favorite artwork in your bio. Also note that due to migration issues, bios of deviants who are not on Eclipse are static, meaning if they update them on the old site, the changes will not be reflected on Eclipse until that deviant switches to Eclipse and edits their bio using the new editor. Eclipse Change Log: December 5, 2018

Another week, another change log! Thank you for your continued feedback and bug reports!

Please keep in mind that larger feature requests and issues take additional time to address — but know we are actively working on them. In the meantime, we’ll continue to share these change logs with some of the smaller changes and bug fixes, so that you follow along with the progress of Eclipse.

We’ve also been receiving reports about various issues regarding images, image compression, image URLs, and filenames. DeviantArt recently switched to a new system to serve images and we’re currently looking into the issues that you’ve been reporting.

What's Next for Eclipse: FeedbackLate last year, we released the beta version of DeviantArt Eclipse – a redesign that puts more emphasis on artists and their art. It’s one of our biggest, most ambitious updates to date, which is why we’ve chosen to open it to Beta Testers as early as we did. Not only do we need Beta Testers’ help locating and squashing those pesky bugs, we want to gain deviants’ feedback, thoughts, and opinions on the current Eclipse experience and what we should include in the future. We’re very proud and excited with the level of collaboration we’ve been able to achieve with the DeviantArt community, and we hope to continue this as we further develop Eclipse. The Beta version of Eclipse has brought many changes (see them here), with even more in store, including ways to customize and personalize Profiles! We Hear You!Since the Beta launch of Eclipse late last year, we’ve received a lot of feedback regarding just that: Feedback. You might have called it a few other names in the past: Feedback, Message Center, Notifications, etc. Let’s establish what Feedback is: it’s comments and replies made on your art, any mentions of you or your art, and correspondence with other deviants and groups. We processed and analyzed your thoughts and opinions on Feedback, and how cumbersome it had become to interact with friends on Eclipse. With that, we’re excited to show you some major updates in the works.Changes We’re Making Based on Your FeedbackNew NavigationYou can now easily access Feedback by clicking on the bell icon next to your avatar, with all the different areas visible for you to filter through. Just a simple click and you can filter to view only your comments or only your mentions.One-Click RemoveA popular request from several Beta Testers! With one, easy click of a mouse you can tidy up Feedback to your exact liking. Multi-Remove & Multi-SaveEnjoy a more seamless process of removing multiple notifications in an efficient manner, or saving some of your favorite Feedback moments.Let Us Know!We understand how important being involved and embedded in the DeviantArt community is, and we hope the updated Feedback helps you connect and communicate more easily. These upcoming updates will be announced in @danlev's weekly change logs as soon as they are live. Share with us in the comments what you look forward to using in Feedback, as well as anything else you’d like to see improved!Got something else on your mind? Let us know:Switch to DeviantArt EclipseClick your avatarSelect "Give Your Feedback" to access our official formSpecial shoutout to the DeviantArt staff involved with these major Feedback updates:@tomergr @heidi @roihim @yury-n @noaron @zilla774 @mariiasv @nishnushtlv @chenarbel @thesquidarrives Be kind and show them some love or ask them a question if you have any!...
