Starships are the shield, sword and signature for the pilots of EVE. They are created both to tear down entire empires and to gather and transport the resources needed to build anew. What new machine will you bring to the warfront? Will yours be a craft of elegance and beauty? Will the mere presence of it prove more intimidating than any arsenal a pilot could load into its bays? Design a starship and enter it into the EVE Online Create A Starship Contest for a chance to have your dream ship become a reality. The 1st Place winner will have their ship added to the premiere space MMOG (Massively Multiplayer Online Game), EVE Online where countless pilots will build and fly the winners' creation.

Show us your real concept art skills and get judged by the EVE Online creative team! Examples of how an entry should look are here (image) and here (video). Entrants will need to provide their entry from all six orthogonal views in order to qualify for further consideration as a potential winning entry.

Experience EVE Online, free for 14 days, and discover the richest gameplay and most engaging community in online gaming. To download the client and create your free trial account, visit trial.eveonline.com.

Players traverse the star systems in all manners of starships from small frigates to massive haulers to mighty dreadnaughts and supercarriers. It is a war-torn universe, where a pilot's cunning and charisma are as important as their armor and ammunition.

So, taking the lack of response or the like, that no is the answer. Well..crap *sigh* So much for being able to download all the entries at once in a 'collection' like formation..but meh...still holding onto some faith. Should anyone do such a thing, can you please send me a note, letting me know where to go or what to do, to be able to download the file with all the entries of the contest in em? =/ thankies *slinks off all dejected like ;_;*
ZeroMatrixGuyver's avatar
So again, I was wondering O_o is there any possible file or whatnot that has -all- the contest entries in it up for downloading? I was just wondering from an archivers point of view an such as going through page after page trying to save each picture becoming highly...tedious...and yes, I know. Seems a bit OCD but meh...I can't help it. I love having beautiful ships like thatr cycling through my desktop :3 so does anyone know if that file exists or will exist or imma jus plain screwed? If so, even if the information isn't good, please send me a note telling me, yes? Please? Any help would be most appreciated!

Congrats to the finalists. Nothing against them personally at all. That being said, I am very disappointed in this selection process. In my opinion, and I know opinions vary, there are 5 good designs picked out of the 15 finalists. One of those selections was either chosen as a joke, received a pity vote, or knew one of the judges personally because the design is minimalist at best. A 10 year old could have drawn it in 10 minutes. There were many choices I would have considered better than mine, but to lose to a design like that is insulting to all of the real artists that spent hours and hours competing. Again, congrats to the finalists, but I'm done with Deviant Art and Eve completely. I'm keeping my account open for a few days to let people read my comments, then I'm deleting this account and my Eve account as well. Life is too short to waste time with worthless endeavors such as Deviant Art and Eve if they show this level of incompetence and lack of design sense.

The EVE team had nothing to do with the 15 semi-finalists. They only choose the last 3. Which was probably the problem to begin with, as I doubt DA staff have any idea what fits within the EVE universe.
knightd427's avatar
Yes, but the Eve team were irresponsible by allowing the DA staff to make that choice. When you delegate responsibility like that, it falls on you in the end when things go good or bad.
Skapanorn's avatar
I don't think they even thought about it that much to be honest. They must have thought "how bad can it get?" and just went with the flow. Would be difficult to find staff to sort through thousands of entries, when they have better things to do, when DA staff don't have anything better to do at all (if we consider this as their full time job).
Xenus888's avatar
I sent a ticket requesting exactly your comment "That they probably have no idea what fits the universe". The assured me that they did. Apparently it was a lie...?
Skapanorn's avatar
Most likely a lie to make you feel more reassured. If the DA staff knew exactly what they were doing, that would suggest that they either didn't look at all the entries, judged according to friendship with deviants or drew names from a hat. All of that is extremely unprofessional and just saying: "nope we had no idea what the fuck we were doing" is the better evil.

But I guess we'll see how this will go.

I didn't make it, I kinda expected it, I'm still new to designing ships, but it was a fun and learning experience! I bet next time I can do it better ^^ since I got some experience now thanks to this contest. Congrats to all the semi-finalists!

Seeing a copy of Light Loki, Minmatar Viator, A more personal.. mm.. box and aa.. boxy fish.. in the semi finalists, I think only 15 followed the rules :D Must've been the strict rule about line drawings..

Grats everyone :)

Awesome, and congrats to the 15 semi-finalists! Not to take away from their designs, but DeviantArt, where's the respect for a hand-drawn design? Everything you selected is rendered (???). Regardless, wonderful work you guys/gals!!!

Mine´s not 3d-rendered, photoshop only :>
