Bandmerch FAQ

We are now officially ready to take submissions for the recently announced bandmerch deal

Now to the nitty and the gritty!

SUBMISSIONS:

Submissions are to be entered under the category:
community marketplace -> music -> band name

Bandmerch will be keeping a very close eye on the submitted designs and you can't beat that kind of exposure.  Now, there is no guarantee that the band will use designs from these submissions, nor is there a guarantee that your design will be chosen. However, we can promise that if a band wants to use the work you submit to them, you would be contacted and paid for the designs!

The pricing range is $200-$500 per design used by Bandmerch so be sure to check your notes after you submit!.

This is your chance to strut your stuff for some of the biggest names in music.

Should you have any questions about the bandmerch deal or submissions please feel free to post them here or contact Moonbeam13 at moonbeam13@deviantart.com. The Community Marketplace forums will also be opened to handle questions :)

Good luck!

Show them deviantART is where the talent's at.

Good grief people - they don't open the other names because the company either doesn't handle their merchandise, or there is an absolute overabundance of merch already. Do you know how many variations of a green day or blink-182 t-shirt there are? Here's a chance to go listen to some new music that you've never heard of before. You're all artists, embrace the bands' unique artistic expression and expand your own artistic horizons. Quit being such whiners.

they already have more than enough designs available to them, and are rich enough that they can hire their own designers.

Outkast and Snoop Dogg are interesting,
but there's names we never heard of
so It would probably be hard to create something for them

If christina was in the list,
I would probably be doing "I Love You X" obssessed deviations instead and submit them...LOL

I think Music Production companies or at least Record companies should have been responsible for that,
because there's several deviations that fall in their artists portfolios

and the money is little,
that's desperate art rip off! LOL

I agree, more indie names... hey, I dont think this is the best place to ask questions about the names of the bands... after that 'Mexican wave' or comments I doubt the officials are paying much attention to this post. we should probably contact $Moonbeam13 at moonbeam13@deviantart.com.

Then again, it does say to leave questions here... hmmm

honestly, none of the posted artists are very good. Those artists...are the type of band that are given the most amount of attention for doing the least amount of work. They are run by the corperation. fuck 'em.

you know what, fuck that, dont even include anything popular in america, because the second cds come into america, they are ripped apart by the FCC.

Btw, bandmerch.com...this would be a great way to expose unknown artists (aka. more money for you [cause we all know this is all just for the money, right?....why else would you try to rip us off by only making it $500 max]) expose Fort Minor, you cover those guys, they are really good, their new cd comes out in 8 days...theres no better time than to add them to this list than now, you jackasses.

and to the bands listed. give up...youre all eating up this fame til they realize that youre no good without the popular clothes and 'in-style' looks. you all sound the same...you all look the same....jesus christ, im sure its the same people in every band...

and for those about to burn me....no im not just here to rip apart the popular people...i listen to popular music, nine inch nails, evanescence, staind, but at least they have talent...trent reznor plays every instrument ever created...and very well at that...amy lee and aaron lewis both have taken classes on singing, whereas most of the 'popular bands' now (which btw, are only popular now because they were underground before last year, and its 'trendy' to listen to underground music) come straight out of the gutterhole white trash town they lived in and are paid to dress up like the 'popular' band they sound like the most.

so no, i will not attend your little contest...
and it disgusts me that you will sink so low as to buy a very valuable logo for a mere $500...

i apologise for this but read this quote '''none of the posted artists are very good.''' thats just ur opinion dude, music is music, all bands need publicity, plus if $500 is a low price for u, then obiously u should take ur work else wer,a ll designers start some wer and not everybody does it for the money, its for the finish look, not everybody just wants money, so get a grip and if u dnt think its a gd idea, then dnt do it, but dnt spoil it for every one else, cheers, and sorry if any of it sounded harsh, total respect, laters

you are correct, it is my opinion
but two things:
the first, spell things out, youre 18, you know that 'dnt' is not a word, youre making yourself look stupid by writing like that. im not saying this to offend, but the way you type affects the way people percieve what you are saying.
the second, 0% of commission artists 'do it for the finished look'. this is a commission piece, and to be commissioned to do a piece of artwork, you are usually offered 3-5 times that much money.

also, the shirts have no net profit, (net profit is when you get a certain amount of the money made from the item)...this is a shirt, the only reason people are buying it is the band name, and the image look, you should be getting at least 15%-20% net profit from that.

completely honestly, its a scam.

that is why im trying to 'spoil it' for the rest of you, because people will fuck you over all the time with stuff like this. Do you think the people at the common table at bandmerch.com are going, lets get an unknown artist that hasnt been in the real art world yet, and bring them into it by having them mail a picture to us and us give them money for it. no theyre going, we cant afford paying a professional artist upwards of $10K-$3Mil (depending on net value) for this logo, lets just have a stupid teen do it for $200...theyll fall for it.

i agree with what you are saying, but i do think that designers that are just starting out, could do with the experiance and i think thats who this is aimed at, but i do understand everything that you are saying.

the contest is worth it because of the exposure in the professional world. besides, I don't know of one graphic artist that gets paid per t-shirt with this kind of exposure. for an unexposed artist (which I believe the majority of us are), this is a very good way to get our names out on the professional market. sure, $500 isn't a whole ton of money, but it's at least enough to make rent for a month, and it'll go a ways toward something you'd fancy to buy. but really, the exposure is worth its weight in gold on a resume.

jesus... all those bands are in my opinion, commercial crap, i would have thought they'd just all make t-shirts saying kiss my ass and pay for my over-priced sun glasses... ( cept outkast of course, no matter what i lurrv them ) .

i wanted to see some real indie bands ( tho they prob would want to make their own t-shirts ) like arcade fire and more..

i feel really gutted by this, i'm a liked the idea, saw the bands names, walked away...

ah well.. who cares, arts better when its free ^_-

(tho money is always good, at least we can give something free to the world to some extent)

there is no way on this earth that i would take my time to create something spectacular for a t-shirt only to be paid a measly $200-$500 for it. That doesnt even pay for the labor and electricity that it takes to make the design!

I would really like to submit one or more designs but the above-named bands don't represent my favourites...

(I'd like to submit something for KoRn, Slipknot, System of a Down, Rammstein, ...)
