Eclipse Change Log: September 18, 2019
In this week’s change log, we’ve introduced various improvements to comments across the site as well as a number of bug fixes and smaller improvements. Stay tuned for more, and keep the bug reports and feature requests coming! Comment Improvements Are Here! A few weeks back we shared that we were working on some updates to comments. We’ve upgraded comments to improve readability and show a better hierarchy of conversations. Now you’ll be able to view full conversations within one popup without navigating from the page, as well as clearer distinction and separation between original comments and their replies! You’ll also see threading relationships that display on hover, linking child comments to their parents. Overall, this will make longer conversations with multiple replies and topic threads easier to understand and follow. More Info on Green Theme & Pagination Coming Soon! DeviantArt: Behind the Scenes
A number of our most recent journals have been related to official announcements and informative Change Logs. While such information is important to communicate, it’s been some time since we’ve gone behind-the-scenes at DeviantArt! Because DeviantArt’s main headquarters recently moved into a new office space, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to share some photos of our new digs -- as well as introduce you to a few staff members at their locations across the globe. With conference rooms and impromptu meeting spaces scattered about, staffers like @the0st, @petralfire, Oliver, and Scudder don't need to ask permission before jumping on couches. Our new kitchen is host to all sorts of healthy fruits and greens. Here’s @msaria and @HistoryMystery chatting over a spot of tea. Representing the Marketing department are @akiestar, @ikazon, @MattInRealLife, @ggMattB, and @humblehills. @slytype and @blacflag5 from the Community Operations team are brushing up on their Ping Pong

Eclipse Change Log: August 28, 2019
Coming Soon: Comment Improvements In case you missed it: Last week we shared a preview of our upcoming improvements to comments. Special Thanks to Bug Hunter, @Daemon-Illusionum! We wanted to extend a special thank you to @Daemon-Illusionum, who compiled an extensive list of Eclipse bugs! We’ve gone through his list and most of the issues are in queue to be fixed — some already fixed! — while we further investigate some of the others. Keep the bug reports coming! Change Log You can now zoom in on deviations on the new mobile web version of Eclipse. After clicking "Reply" on a comment, the text box is now automatically selected. On Feedback, after clicking the Deviations tab and then selecting a stack of deviations, clicking back would bring you to the main Feedback page rather than the Deviations tab. Reduced the size of commission thumbnails on Profile. For a short period of time, there was an issue when switching between light and dark themes on mobile web. After moving a folder

Coming Soon: Comment Improvements
Commenting is the lifeblood of the community, and those deviant-to-deviant interactions are what set DeviantArt apart from the rest of the Internet. We want to keep the commenting experience as natural as participating in a chat with a friend, and as visually pleasing as the rest of the content on DeviantArt. When we sought to improve comments, we knew that the areas most in need of focus were threading and context. Long threads can start to get complex, so we improved the flow to remove interruptions, to remove paging every few comments. The full conversation is right there in one popup after clicking "view entire conversation." For better readability and clearer hierarchy, we’ve also added containers around each comment. Then, to tease the complex from the chaos, we added threading relationships that display on hover, linking child comments to their parents. This can be especially helpful on threads with several different conversations stemming from one topic. All the benefits

In this week's change log, we have a small handful of minor bug fixes and smaller improvements while we work on bigger changes. Stay tuned for more, and keep the bug reports and feature requests coming! Change Log In case you missed it, we posted an update earlier this week: Dealing with Spam on DeviantArt Various minor bug fixes and improvements to the mobile web version of Eclipse. Reduced the font size in thumbnails of shorter status updates. Fixed issue where profile card that appears when hovering over an avatar or username would briefly jump. Deleting a Donation Pool now asks you to confirm before it is removed. Fixed issue where video previews wouldn't display before clicking play. In Feedback, comments under the mentions section were missing like buttons. The description of the Featured folder can now be editing again. When mentioning another deviant, if you did not explicitely select the username from the autocomplete dropdown, the next character after the username would be

Customization, Contrast, Pagination, and Comments
We are hearing you, and we are listening. And we are ready to address the absolute top concerns the community has raised about DeviantArt Eclipse: customization and HTML/CSS, dark and light theme adjustments, pagination, and comments. Customization & Sunsetting HTML/CSS We will continue to implement and support more and more customization options as DeviantArt Eclipse grows and expands. Examples include your cover images on Profiles and stage backgrounds on deviation pages. Further customization options may begin to appear in custom sections, Galleries, in the revamp of Groups, as well as in other desirable places. However, we will not continue to support HTML/CSS and free coding in Eclipse. We know that some folks will be very disappointed by this news, but we do not want to mislead you. HTML/CSS support will end soon, but many more options for customization of your experience are on the way that will be very powerful. Feel free to suggest some! Contrast Issues on Dark and Light

Deviousness Award

It is not often we bestow deviousness upon someone who is already a member of staff, but sometimes you need to bend those rules when there are exceptions to the rule like $Moonbeam13. She has been heading up the crew of Gallery Directors as head of Artist Relations for going on a year now, listening to suggestions from the community, enacting her own ideas, getting input from the volunteers, and bringing you massively cool contests. And that’s just some of the things she gets done in a single day. It is with great pride and a huge vote of “thanks” that we give deviousness to $Moonbeam13 on the verge of our 6th Anniversary!

The Basics - Essential Tools for Your Kitchen
Cooking and Baking Week A random fact you may not know about me, is that I've been cooking since I was a child and I actually went to Culinary school. I think making food for others is an act of love and I find it very calming, even when I was running a very busy restaurant line! If you're a foodie, or know someone who is, you'll know that it's very easy to get sucked into every new gadget and gizmo that comes out.  The reality is that you don't really need an avocado slicer but there are essential tools that, in my opinion, every kitchen should have. So here is my simple list to equip yourself for culinary genius! Knives Avoid buying a
