My dad had neck surgery yesterday, I don't know that details of it, but things turned out fine. Everyone was worried about it, but I was thoroughly prepared for him to not be coming back. My father is going on seventy and has lived out most of his life already. There have been days when I would be wandering around an empty house with nothing to do just like he does everyday of his life. My dad fantasizes about having a motor home that he can take back with him to Cambodia, I think that's the extent of his dreams.

I imagine it's hard to understand, but sometimes it's important to know when one's time is up.

My father's mother outlived herself by several years & finally died of complications of diabetes, but mostly from neglect.

My mother's parents are in their 80's and still carrying on. I dunno why, and neither do they, but c'est la vie. Enjoy it as much as you can. Its all you get.

Actually, I understand perfectly.

My grandpa's health has been failing him. He has emphesyma (sp?) and ended up in the hospital a while back. He almost died. He said he wanted to die then. But my aunt refused to let him go and told him he had to stay alive. Now he's miserable, living connected to a machine that breaths for him and he wants to die. I believe that he should've months ago in the hospital. I had said my goodbyes then and I was ready for him to go. It's just time. He's lived a good life.

I know I'll go through the same with my father soon. He has somewhere between 3 and 5 years. He'll probably surpass that some because he's a stubborn pain in the ass, but the cancer will catch up to him and I'm ready for it. Besides, I hate watching him suffer.

I was orginally just stopping by your page to give you a hug cuz I'm in a really good mood, but when I saw the journal entry, I couldn't help but comment.
