Well i've been hard at work at everything I've been caught up in. Been branching out more lately. Trying to give myself more of a chance to network some possibilities. But there'll be more on that later.

Current thought...

Well, I keep an eye out on quite a few stock accounts by chance that a picture pops up that I can't resist using for a manipulation. But watching those sites I every now and then drop into their favorite section and perhaps see some of the WORSTE photomanipulations possible. Disgustingly inconsistent, unproportionate, discolored. Overall horrible stuff getting credit, praise, and *gasp* more favorites than my work (sarcasm) I hardly ever go out of the way to be dissapproving, but I worry how it might effect me, what little is taken seriously about such a new medium. Then again, I could just as easily not care.

How do you tell people their stuff sucks without being an asshole? I guess there's no real constructive answer.

I hear the local newspaper in my area is looking for photo retouching type specialists. Something I'm very likely to be good at. Figured last time I mentioned prospects of getting a new job here on DA I got it so why not?

Also currently working on a tutorial for a french magazine www.psdmag.org who got wind of my work through my recent work with Jeanett

Work still sucks, being up this late at night is certainly getting worse and worse. In fact the weather has been getting better lately and I simply couldn't sleep through it. For the past two days I've been going out in the early noon just to be among the living. Smiling happy healthy people who go to bed at a normal hour. I'd like to be one of them someday. I really don't know how much longer I can do this graveyard nonsense...

eeesh

ancient egyptians were forbidden to create realistic images & sculptures of human being because they predicted that given to power to capture an image of a person they were given the first step in becoming god. I.E. a power no one should have because given that responsibility they would certainly abuse it. Hence Ancient egyptian illustrations were intentially flat and disproportionate.

Hard to say. I have seen some scary and downright ugly manips done of my work... I don't want to say "wow that's insulting, take it down." I dunno, I wish I could say to do better without sounding mean. But some of these people just don't know how to use photoshop or something... It's a pity because I wish more people did quality work like yours with my stock rather than running it through a filter that came with photoshop and then changing the color and calling it "manipulated." *sigh*

look at this one: [link]
Valiant attempt, but the hips are way too wide, whose ever legs he attached to her body makes her look more suited to lay a giant egg rather than be at a ready stance. A valiant attempt at depth in the background, but with the line at the top of the window at that heigt she'd have to be 8 feet tall.

At least I guess it was clean though. I'm tired of seeing bits that didn't get erased... And many people don't grasp the color correction thing. Her coloring doesn't match the background, the lighting as well. Haha wow she really is too big for that hallway. The blood looks good though. I guess at least they tried...

Now she's actually a lovely girl. But this manip makes me cringe. Well it's not even in the manip section, it's listed under photography, which I know can't be true.

It makes me want to do tutorials to try and help out, but I never have the time...

btw, I like your recent topless picture. I might just have to steal the design for that.

Yeah? I was naked in the original picture, except for the belt, lol. I was adding clothes to it and thinking, "Hmm, outfit changes and everything, wow this is very Montyish of me." :giggle:

However, I bet you'll do it better than me ;p

Arm on the left looks like it's going to fall off from all that blurring.

Scary ain't it?

And sometimes when I do find a manipulation that has been done well, it's of me with my face rotting off or with some mechanical thing in my gut and limbs missing... I can't win, lol.

Hehe, so is the light in this one coming from the left right top or behind? I don't think he can' seem to decide, or respond to constructive criticism. Maybe if I were a girl it'd be different.

Not to mention the statue head isn't even totaly extracted.

Did you read the really long critque left by :raven8t8: on that picture? It's sort of nice to see someone doesn't mind sounding like a dick when it comes to crique, lol.

Man and it's on the front page of DA... It's a valiant effort and at least everything blends together. I think lighting is the most overlooked part of photo manipulation.
