I have three high priority tasks in front of me currently:

1. Build personal website. Yeah I still don't have one.

2. Create Promotional Art for DF II. Which will be used for DVD covers posters, banners etc.

3. Start Dead Fantasy III

Of course the first thing I want to do is just go straight into starting Dead Fantasy III. But I've gone far too long without having a website. I've already bought the space and am ready to go, but damned if it'll take me some time to jog my memory as how to actually build one. Having a website means I can post artwork that doesn't agree with DA's copyright rules, ahem... possibly make it link to my paypal and... ummm... ya know... maybe makes some monies... if that's okay.

Promo artwork which involves simply throwing some renders together and backdrops and you know doing that stuff I used to do... non moving images. It goes hand in hand with getting that website built too. I'm not far off from just hiring someone to do it, but as you can tell I'm really a big  "Do it Yourself, do it alone, guy" But I guess asking is the first good step I always take.

Plus getting this stuff outta the way will let me get to the important stuff. That is starting Dead Fantasy III, and finally the ever important for me & out of respect for Reuben Kee, ROAD 4 (I'll talk about that one later.)

Low priority Tasks:

1. Get my dance on!!! (Done and done)

2. Go see the dentist

3. Get a checkup

4. Do my taxes

5. Setup my 401k

6. other "living" stuff

So anyhoo, getting a website built yeah, anyone got any tips? I'm not looking to make anything complicated. Something ya know... has pictures, let's me embed movies, maybe some buttons n stuff. I like the way is setup. Maybe even do a web comic if I ever find the time.

Dead Fantasy III will feature dressphere changes in the one on one fight between Rikku and Ayane. I do plan on using some of the existing dresspheres, but as I abhore most of their designs, (seriously what a waste, you've got a game where cute girls are constantly changing outfits and all you have to choose from is crap on top of crap.) I am taking the opportunity to reach out to you my fellow artist and work together on making some fan made dresspheres.

Further detailing the requirements of this, I'll bullet point the relevant and great ideas info so far.

- This is for Dead Fantasy III, which I will be working on on and off alongside some other things

- I am asking for an original design. I'm doing this cause I want you to see your design in my movie

- I will be modeling it, all I'm really asking for is a quick drawing, maybe even if it's an idea well though out enough that I could draw myself.

- When the movie's done I want to be able to point to your artwork and give you full credit when people say "where's that dressphere? How come I didn't see that in the game?"

Dressphere cannot overlap the current existing dresspheres. I.E. don't design a gunner dressphere when a gunner one already exists.

Not too comical - I.E. Mascot, Trainer, Berserker, lady luck, they're kinda pushing it as far as designs go. This movie is pretty serious actually. When I think about the previz, it's pretty hard hitting. So I don't want to put something in that'll distract the viewer.

Must fit Rikku's Style - She has a generally warm color pallete and high yellows. She's also wearing things on the skimpy side, but the designs that work well on her are still more or less tastefull

This is still a fighting movie - Which means it still has to be something that's mobile, so I anticipate having a pretty tough time with ones like Black Mage that aren't built for high movement.

Simply upload you artwork to your DA account and send me a link (believe it or not I really do read all the comments/notes/messags.)

Not too sure, I haven't quite figured out my schedule for the next few months, but I can guarantee it won't be anytime soon. This movie is going to require a massive amount of content creation.

Well, HTML isn't all that tough to learn, and you can do just about anything with it on a website.

If you want some sort of a baseline to get started on, i have a template i once made for another site but since the owner didn't like it, maybe you can make use of it.

Here is my 2nd submission. I know, the image is of the Dark Magician Girl, not Rikku. That's not the important part. What is important is the outfit, and rikku could totally wear it (except the hat. I'ld have to replace that with a head band or something.) If nothing else, it's fun to look at.

Nuclearwarhawk Featured By Owner Mar 31, 2008
Got another one (sorry Monty, they're really piling up, aren't they?) I guess I shoulda waited a bit longer before posting the previous one, so I could post them together. Oh well. Anyway, here it is.
It's a pirate costume for those of you who were interested in seeing a pirate dressphere. Not my best work, but not my worst either.

Good luck with your website.
Those are always nice to have.
I want one too but I'm not
looking forward to all the
maintainance work. Especially
since I don't know how to

Good luck with your website! i know how it feels to build one even on html it gets to be annoying ~_~'' but i'm excited to see what you have up your sleeve!!

And i'm definitely joining your Rikku contest! i love designing dresspheres :D i'm hoping to get time one day to actually recreate an original dressphere into an actual cosplay.. my biggeset one yet is a FFVII:AC dressphere for Yuna that takes after Zack's outfit :3

I'm curious to see what kind of website you'll make, and if you need help with a flashplayer or coding(html, javascript, php, actionscript 3) I'll be happy to be of assistance
mechanical-kitten Featured By Owner Mar 31, 2008
so will there be dressphere changes for ayane as well? and can we submit multiple designs for rikku?

Eww... 401k... Painful.

Wordpress is perhaps a good starter, you can probably go and javascript most of it though, and I definitely wouldn't recommend flash in terms of coding a website.

Old school fun would be the wonders of html coding... ahaha.

Do your best! I wish you luck, get the things done!

Jog your web-designing memory while visiting the dentist. Start building site afterwards....

Or something like that. xD

I believe how you have that set up is the best way to do things!

I mean, first you want a website, that's always best. I didn't know you didn't have one, so I've been searching. Now I know it's been all in vain. Oh well. :P

And then promotional art as well! I mean, it's best if you get more people interested before you do the 3rd, that way you'll have more fans watching the 3rd, and probably some 'donations' to get the thing going. ;P

3rd, of course, is actually getting DF3 out. But we can't always start something we want to! Need to get all the important stuff out of the way first~

Of course, paying your taxes should be your first priority, I think, so get that out of the way, and you're all set!

I hope you figure out how to get that website up then! I really can't wait! =D

I recommend wordpress. Wordpress is a blog page that allows you to customize settings without any need of coding. It is very similar to what red vs. blue have on their page. You can use plugins on wordpress to further enhance the features of the blog. With the blog people can also register and leave comments just like here.

jimmypham Featured By Owner Mar 30, 2008
Well my opinion (which doesn't really mean much) would be that you should first make your website....cuz getting yourself out there is very do have a following in a few circles.....but it wouldn't hurt to expand that...besides, you do more than 3D I would do the medical stuff....I probably say out of guilt cuz I need to get checked up too.....I would honestly have the promo stuff be fan made....I don't know how much work this would take, but maybe create a few stock pictures...and then let the fans go nuts with it.....kind of a "made by fans for fans" kind of thing...because I'm sure that there are people here who could make wallpapers and photo manipulations all day.....and then get started on DFIII....doing your taxes would probably help in the long run too...heh.

waahh? you still dont have a website! haha

not to pry, but how do you make cash to live, whilst still finding all the time to make movies which by all standards, look like theyre made by a full team of professionals...

oh i just saw all your films. Incredible, i love em..blah blah.

anyway, i wondered, how do you dodge the legal stuff? Surely if your using their character models/sounds..etc you might be sued when you start making money from this?

Anyway, dead fantasy is amazing. Hopefully, youll release another makin of video like the ones for haloid (which helped me a lot, thanks), im wondering how you animate the characters..etc

Still amazed you dont have a site. If you had a website, and slapped an advert for it onto haloid/dead fantasy, youd get so much ad money from traffic, you wouldnt know what to do with it. Not that you should sell out, but its nice to get money from an artists work.

Anyway, long post..phew. Amazing films, actually awestruck by dead fantasy, so ill rant about it to my mates tomorow. haha.
keep up the good work :]

Hey montyoum-sama my brothers and i wanna know if Paine will make an appearance in one of your movies? Is it being considered?
naa Featured By Owner Mar 30, 2008
Maybe try Wordpress? ( you can still customize it, make it do neat things but don't have to worry about making everything match (it does it for you). Can still embed flash movies, pretty picture galleries, etc. It's kind of like a content management system (CMS). I personally use it on several websites and it's easy to maintain. Or if anything it can be used as a starter to get your content up until you figure out something better.

I have a couple things bookmarked that can help with ideas and construction:

[link] - free templates to work from
[link] - lots of tutorials and validators

I use Dreamweaver CS3 or Coda (for Mac), FrontPage is pretty limited from what I've heard.

And if you can make those kind of movies....HTML and CSS will be a snap for you to learn.

And for the love of god don't use frontpage....

I'm making a Dressphere for Rikku, Where should I post you the link to the drawing when I finish?

Good luck with your website thing!

I sense you're one of those "Must Do All My Shit For Myself" guys, but looking at the long line of fans, I wouldn't be surprised that if you asked for help producing a personal website, a greatful geek would gladly step up and help take a load off your shoulders. I certainly would if I wasn't useless at webdesign. But I think I speak for a lot of us in saying that we want you working as unhindered as possible, and that'd help in any way possible.

Keep rocking on man!

Your call, Monty.

I dunno, if you need money, you could do some commisions...
not by movies(if taht's what you think) more pictures...I see that you are a really good artist and even have tons of people begging you for some requests...

I payed once a commision for 50 € and still don't regret it =D

well on my website I have a wordpress blog as the main page and a gallery setup (available at [link] ) to handle all my drawings and pixel stuff, it saves a load of time because you just upload the pic, drop it in a folder and add any desription you want :)

course my webhost has an automated installer of it so I dont know how hard it will be to install manually ^^;

but as someone else who spent years never getting round to making a website, having it done now is a big relief and somehow I feel more secure with it (I dunno, I'm wierd) so get that done first, its worth it :)
Excelryu Featured By Owner Mar 30, 2008
Wordpress is pretty easy to install but the web host has to have the requirements like mysql which are also pointed on the wordpress site. redvsblue's page is a blog so wordpress is the way to go for something similar to red vs. blue.
Ixbran Featured By Owner Mar 30, 2008
i think a personal wb site weould be best, allowing people to join the website so they can log in and check up on how things are.

Allowing people to comment on videos and pictures like DA.

just dont make it so people have to pay to join or see sertan things. not everyone has acess to a pay pal account, and it would be unfare to those what want to see your work, but cant.

Promo art would be awsome to see! Id love to see Kairi pin the difrent transformations, as well as Rikkus DressSphears. Good luck with everything monty.

Why not just make it a poll? It'd be easier to see what the fans want that way...
xenos219 Featured By Owner Mar 30, 2008
no offense to frontpage but it sucks as far as graphically building website goes, it just adds way too much junk into the code, I grabbed adobe's CS3 master suite recently and use PS/DW/Flash for my own website. I am building it on the script side instead of the graphical but Indesign will help with the graphical builders.
CassielsSprite Featured By Owner Mar 30, 2008
Back in school we used FrontPage software. I found it easy to follow. You can design the page like a graphics program and it'll make the code for you. But I used that back in 2002 so I'm sure it's got an upgrade. You can find tutorials on the website for it.
If you want to learn to code yourself there's a great book called Beginning CSS Web Development From Novice to Professional, since most websites use CSS these days it's a good buy...or you can even find it as a downloadable torrent, but you didn't hear that from me.
luckydragonbb Featured By Owner Mar 30, 2008
