Ink and charcoal on paper.

*********************
more:  I’m aware some parts of the image came out a little blurry;  the liquid charcoal turned the paper into a mountainous landscape and the scanner was like “nuh-uh”.  But..for this subject I kind of like the effect, it goes well with the microscopic/ virus theme.

Enhance the virus a bit, and you could tie her with ARN strings ( or is it ADN? Not sure if viruses are technically alive...)

Agree with you on the technical glitch - sorry, "special effect" - that makes it more interesting.(bad formulation here: the concept of your pic is interesting, whatever the technique...)

Someone said it's "thought-provoking", here's one : your christian imagery highjacking is relevant; viruses are the simplest things in nature, yet they have a blind power of live and death on all the rest... Exactly how the Universe works IMO: simplicity started it all and it still reigns over fragile - and beautiful - complexity. And it seems like simplicity constantly tries to undo complexity. No wonder we need(ed) god(s) :)

Sorry I missed this comment somehow..  yes i agree, who was it who said “when I think of the power of microscopic organisms over much larger living things, it is far from clear to me that humans are in fact the dominant life form on this planet” (or something like that).. Corvid-19 has certainly put us in our place!    I’m also fascinated by how complexity arises; I’ve long had a fascination with fractals and am addicted to those “fractal zoom” videos popular on YouTube ... with that eerie sensation of falling endlessly towards the ground but never reaching it.

A never ending universe, whatever the extreme you're aiming at :)

Thanks Ether!!  It would be a lot easier to hide from the viruses if they were this big :giggle:

Every time I see some picture of tje virus, I picture it to have Corona bottles sticking out rather than those "crowns"

Hehe yeah, the beer makers should change their name to something safe. Like Ebola.

Without referring overtly to 'crux' or 'plague'... we don't want to start a panic! :D

You're welcome Monty.
Yes indeed it is, pleasure and pain walk hand in hand through human minds .
I'm hunkered down for a while, which leaves me time for the arts, no bad thing, so safe as I can hope to be at least :D (Big Grin)  likewise my friend

And staying alive is a bonus , reduce ones carbon footprint , gives the planet a break from tourism and air pollution, perhaps we should have pandemics more often Wink/Razz

Haha! your art idea's started it.
I have some recollection of the theory that viruses have been around for billions of years and actually are the controlling force of life on earth, like some code installed in the grand design .
Anyway what's lodged in my mind is your translation of the word Corona , and the suggestion of a crown of thorns ,  the shape is something spikey and choking , then there's the face mask which suggests so much more , It's brave , controversial and questioning , which I suppose is what  'search and destroy' art should be and like this little beast its not   for the faint hearted.
