Our deepest apologies for the delay in translating and printing the second half of the scroll Mistress. You must understand the complicated nature of the translation process, not to mention any corrections that must be made to the finished product to remove any doctrinal conflicts with the Temple of Araneah's teachings. I think you require some incentives of your own Miss Gagnon.- Mistress Devereux.o0o., The young farmer Selesiana did tend to her fields diligently outside the city walls of G'Uen, for she had no slaves to tend them for her. She was strong and diligent with hair the color of Seles's lamp burning in the sky, for which she was named. She did follow the teachings of the Verilytes in all things, and was a true daughter of Araneah., A bandit did come upon Selesiana while she worked the field to take her. The bandit could not overcome her, yea even armed with a Telespear, though Selesiana had only her hoe, for she was skilled in the way of fighting being taught by her mother., Selesiana being graceful and of great speed did take from the bandit her weapon and commanded her to kneel before her. She did consider to take the Bandit for herself. In her victory she looked not to see another bandit come upon her, who did throw a rope about her. The bandits fell upon her, binding her in strong cords and taking her away to a hidden place., There were many at the bandit camp who did rejoice at the return of their sisters bringing the captive Selesiana, who they did bind to another daughter of the city of G'Uen. They had taken many captives and gathered a large host in rebellion against the great city, but they hid their faces and Selesiana knew not who they served., In the night when the fires of the camp were put out Selesiana and another captive did move unseen among the camp. They found a tent where none slept and did struggle with might to free themselves., Selesiana loosed her bonds and freed the mouth of the maid she had been bound to, who did tell Selesiana her mother was a high mistress of great wealth who would reward her greatly for her safe return. The maid begged Selesiana until she angered her and she bound her mouth again telling her to be silent lest she ruin them both. A guard of the camp passed close to them and Selesiana took her silently into the tent to take the bandit clothes she wore and to bind her. With the guard's face covering removed and her body naked, Selesiana saw she had the fire hair and fair skin of the Selseka people. Did they not know they were defeated at the Battle of the Selseka plains? Slaves to G'Uen Mistresses, these must have escaped to fight their rightful rulers and worship the false goddesses. In her anger Selesiana bound the Selseka from the tent pole and did strike her backside till it shown red like her hair. Taking the guard's clothes and face coverings upon herself, Selesiana told the daughter of G'Uen with her of her plan to escape. Despite the maid's struggling, Selesiana did capture the maid again. Under the light of Teles' lamp all beheld a Selsekan guard and her bed slave, and they were free to pass out of the camp. Selesiana thought secretly if the maid had lied about her promised reward, she would sell her in the market's of G'Uen, for bearing falsehoods to a friend is a most hateful thing to do., Coming into G'Uen the maid took Selesiana to the house of her mother who rejoiced to see her daughter again, for she feared her lost. The maid's mother was indeed a woman of great stature and wealth and did offer up great riches unto Selesiana for bringing her daughter safely home. A feast was held in the great house and all the high mistresses did come to meet the heroine Selesiana. They were angry at the Selsekans and while yet feasting sent the fighting women out of the city to capture the rebels and free their sisters kept by them. As they feasted they were entertained by song and dance and there was much laughter. Selesiana beheld the dancers and looked upon one who was beautiful above all who danced with grace. In her heart she lusted after the girl, vowing that one day she would have a dancer like her., After the night of feasting Selesiana went to leave the city for her home, taking with her the great riches she had been given. At the gate of the city a woman fell down before her to beg help, crying thou art the one they call Selesiana, Heroine of G'Uen! The woman's sister had been taken by by the othooki called Kjan and Khept, their names meaning lust and pain. Many had been taken by the beast in the hills North and there were none brave enough to go against it. The woman had heard the tale of the heroine with golden hair who saved lost damsels and prayed to Araneah she would find her. Selesiana Took great pride in being called a heroine and vowed aloud if Morena keep a place in Tanterous for such creatures she would send the othooki there. The people of the city hearing this cried out in joy for the othooki was dreaded by all. Again the great women of the city took Selesiana in among them. They offered her the finest arms fit for battle from which she took only a helmet and telespear, for she chose to fight with speed and grace. Many marveled at this saying she had no fear of Morena., It is known Araneah travels all of Pejanaia playing among the people. At that time the Goddess did dwell at the city of G'Uen in secret and did hear that Selesiana prepared to go out to slay the othooki. Araneah laughed in her heart at the foolishness of her, but any brave enough to face Kjan and Khept must be worthy of seeing. The Goddess went in secret to meet Selesiana and offer her blessed water to drink before facing the creature. Selesiana knew not it was Araneah, but did take the water believing her a witch. Selesiana departed the City for the hills North and sought the othooki., Selesiana came upon the othooki in its place of nesting. She first met Khept who bore a grin and hissed a laugh at seeing her. His sister Kjan lifted her great head and breathed a noxious greeting to Selesiana. Upon the othooki's back danced about the sister of the woman at G'Uen, her mind clouded by the magic of the othooki., Kjan came out against Selesiana before her brother Khept, for it is known, Pain always follows Lust. She breathed her magic upon Selesiana as she had to all damsels foolish enough to tarry too long in the othooki's hills. Selesiana beheld what she desired most in her heart before her in the air and could not strike the beast for fear she would lose the vision. Her heart softened and she began to forget what had brought her to this place of peace. , Khept laughed at seeing Selesiana fall so easily and went to devour her. Hearing Khept's laugh drew Selesiana's senses to clarity and she remembered all. Seeing the maw of Khept wide to receive her she thrust in her telespear and danced with grace ten paces. Beholding Kjan again coming to breathe her magic upon her Selesiana remembered the witch's water and drank, praying to Araneah it defend her mind against the magic of the othooki. Kjan blew again upon Selesiana., The breath parted as a weak wind blows upon a mountain and Selesiana stood unmoved. The othooki cried in anger, for no mortal can withstand lust's power. Striking out Selesiana drove the othooki back. Khept and Kjan took courage again and circled about Selesiana to take her, but she leapt upon the othooki's back and drove into the creature. Kjan and Khept gnashed their teeth and spun about her, but they caught her not as she danced. Selesiana plucked out the eye of Lust and slashed open the belly of Pain before she pricked the heart they shared. Morena came silent and unseen by Selesiana, for she is only seen by those she comes for, and took the twin othooki to its place in Tanterous. There it may wait for thee even now, but only the dead can know., Selesiana took the head of Khept to show the people her triumph. The girl she saved did regain herself without the magic of the othooki to hold her and fell to tears and great thanks to Selesiana. In her dreaming under the othooki's spell she'd lusted after one like Selesiana, and hoped to thank her as in her joyous dreaming., Selesiana came again unto G'Uen and was received as savior of the city. The people heaped riches upon her and the Directrix of the city herself held a feast in her honor. She sold her farm and became one of the high women of G'Uen, even buying a harem of recaptured Selseka women. She was happy for a time, but still lusted in her heart after the dancer she had seen the night of the feast. Thou surely knowest this is but a small part of the many great deeds of the heroine of G'Uen that came to pass.
