Animorphs Races: Venber by Monster-Man-08 Animorphs Races: Venber by Monster-Man-08
A primitive race from a very cold moon, the Venber had ski-like feet and used echolocation, but would melt in temperatures above freezing. The Venber were one of the earliest signs of alien life for the recently space-bound Andalites. Unfortunately, a mysterious race known as the Five found that they could use the melted bodies of the Venber for their ships and computers, which led to the extinction of the Venber.

Years later, the Yeerk Empire revived the species, by making human-Venber hybrids (what effect the human DNA had isn't stated). As a Yeerk would freeze to death in a Venber's head, the Yeerks had microchips put into the new Venbers's heads, making them completely obey the Yeerks, which leads to one of the most chilling moments in the series, where the Venbers follow the Animorphs into a warm building, unable to stop chasing despite them melting to death.

awesome alien, it looks like it has shimmering compound eyes, also i like how their ski-like feet let them ski across snowy mountains, they would ski a lot better than humans, their brains must be really cold yet slimy.

The red and blue markings remind me of the G-R-I-T-H-E-R.
Also, I like its feet.

Maybe they needed human DNA to fill in genetic gaps in the Venber DNA. Sort of like in Jurassic Park when they made frog/dinosaur hybrids because the dino DNA wasn't complete. Just a thought.

There's a drawing that's probably still somewhere at my old house that I did of one of these. It looks almost exactly like this, only I gave mine a mouth with a pitiful little frown.

I felt so sorry for these guys.

Nice job on the feet. Arms should probably have been longer though; it doesn't look like they can reach the ground easily enough to pull themselves along.

I remember when they followed the animorphs into the warm building and all melted. That was just cold. No pun indended.

As they said, it was another chapter of cruelty for this race.

Great drawing, especially of the ski feet.

That was one of my favorite books. What's crazy is that I had a dream and one of these guys were in it. O_O It looked exactly like the book described. I hadn't even recognized it for what it was until I read the book the next day.
I like how you drew the feet! :D

Ahh, one of my favorite creatures of the series.

I love how many of the details you captured. Though I really pictured them as a lot more muscular, what with them displaying a shitload of brute strength in the books.

The book just says "flashes of red and blue", without any sense to how those 'flashes' are arranged.
