Animorphs Races: Nartec by Monster-Man-08 Animorphs Races: Nartec by Monster-Man-08
Not an alien race, but a mutant subspecies of Homo Sapiens. The radioactive rocks that allowed them the quickly evolve into amphibious humans also severely damaged their genes; many Nartec are too weak to walk on land, many more die young.

The Nartec restore and display sunken ships (including the dead crew), presumably to learn about the outside world. Anybody "fortunate" to survive the ship's sinking will be killed and their DNA harvested for impregnating female Nartec, a desperate move to ensure their species survival.

BOOK: Animorphs #36 - The Mutation
-----
Animorphs and all related characters belong to K.A. Applegate

This drawing is perfect. Just spot on. He even looks kind of pathetic, like he's on his last legs, like his species.

I just reread 36. Man, that is my least favourite book in the whole series. Just so pointless, heh

I wonder if the author had H. P Lovecraft's Deep Ones in mind when writing that book.

I remember these sad bastards. That was freaky how they were stuffing the crews of those ships.

No way. It's a nightmare come true. I was only ten years old when I saw a lot of those things in a nightmare. I remember it all too well. And I had only read book #13.

Someone should hire you to do an official poster/book/cover/thingie for the Animorphs series, you're just as good as the hired artists. I hope they rerelease the series and get you to draw stuff.

I will confess that 36 was my least favourite book, I've only read it three times as opposed to a dozen times like the rest, haha. Kinda like a mid-series low, but you draw the low fantastically, heh.
