Um, im hoping youll answer to this, how did you make the tail fluff? How'd you get the fluff itself in shape?

Thanks so much for letting us know how you put this together. I'll be making my own Rin tail this year for a convention, and this was super helpful. I saw the way your tail moved on your YouTube vid, it was perfect and I wanted one that moved like that (set pose, but still swishy).

I hope braiding wire isn't that hard. I have 14 gauge wire, but it seems like it'll be a pain to work with, so I'll get 12 gauge like you did. Batting and stretch velvet will be easy, since I work at a fabric store. I might have to do something different for the tail tuft though, cause that fabric you used is hella expensive and kinda tricky to get ^^; Looks awesome though. We don't have very good fur where I work. I might try sewing wig wefts into the tip of the tail instead, and trimming/styling as necessary. Did that for a horse tail once, and it came out pretty awesome.

Wow, you are getting totally bombarded with questions. No surprise, though, because this tail looks awesome.

Now, for mine. xD I went to the National Fiber Technology website to see if I could order myself some fur, but they only do over-the-phone orders, apparently. If I were to try to order some fur for my own tail, which kind should I order, and how much? You say it's a 7 in. black fur, but I have a feeling that won't be specific enough for them. Do you remember how much you ordered, and about how much it cost?

I'm so sorry for adding to the question pile. >.>;

honestly that tail only needed a 4" by 6" piece of fur. I used thier In Stock fur called: CF1702D (5-7") Stock Full Black Modacrylic, 5-7" 4-way stretch, black backing $42.00/sq. ft

Ah! Thank you very, very much! ^_^
I've never made a tail before, so I'm very nervous about buying the nice stuff...but sometimes, you have to just jump in! It looks very nice on your tail so I'm going to (carefully) give it my best shot. ;)

for the wire is braided 12 gauge a special kind of wire or is it actually just three pieces of wire braided together?

Do you think wool roving would work for the tuft?

Sorry for asking so many questions (isn't that crafty) erm when it comes to fur, in my case wool roving, would I just sew a straight stitch with it between the fabric to keep in place... or is there another magical way?

I was wondering how much would a commision for one of these tails cost? I'm planning to cosplay as Rin and I really need a tail, and yours are soooo awesome!
