Love your shirt :) Did you edit this picture, or use black and white film? (If there is even such a thing as black and white film.. I've never used it... So I'm not sure.)

haha. yes, this picture is shot on b&w film. fyi, film is still sold and developed. ;)

Yes, I know! I take pictures on a Canon ae-1. I just didn't know if there was black and white film or not. Now I know! :) Do you just get it anywhere... or somewhere special?

you can get it most photo stores that sell film (at least in my country), but finding a place that develops classic b&w film is probably more difficult, since it uses different chemicals for processing than for regular color film. but you can also get b&w film that is developed with regular C-41 chemicals (=same chemicals as normal color film). it won't be the "real old school" b&w film like i've used here, but it still delivers very good results and you can get it developed in any place that develops regular color film. :)

did you develop yours on your own, or did you find a place that did it? I don't think I've ever even seen black and white film... weird! So I'm sure it'd be really hard to find a place that would develop them.

no, there's a shop in my city that develops B&W film. but it's like the only one in the whole country. :D don't be scared off by this though - i live in a really small country (estonia) so i'm sure the situation isn't as dramatic in bigger countries. it's totally worth trying to find a place though. if you take a look at my deviantart gallery, then all the B&W photos you can see there (except for a few older self-portraits that have been shot with a digital camera) have been shot with real B&W film.
although if you really can't find a place that would develop it for you, just get something that's processed with C-41. for example: kodak BW400CN (the CN stands for color negative which means it can be processed with color negative chemicals) or Ilford XP2. both should deliver excellent results. :)

I went to get a roll of film developed today and saw that they had B&W film as well with "c-41 only" or something on it.. that's the one I should get?

Only I wish it would look "real old school" like yours :( hehe

"To the centre of the city where all roads meet, waiting for you,
To the depths of the ocean where all hopes sank, searching for you,
I was moving through the silence without motion, waiting for you,
I a room with a window in the corner I found truth.

In the shadowplay, acting out your own death, knowing no more,
As the assassins all grouped in four lines, dancing on the floor,
And with cold steel, odour on their bodies made a move to connect,
But I could only stare in disbelief as the crowds all left.

I did everything, everything I wanted to,
I let them use you for their own ends,
To the centre of the city in the night, waiting for you,
To the centre of the city in the night, waiting for you."

Fantastics Joy Division.
