If you have a crappy monitor like mine then you can use this :eyes:

*the watermark is temporarily due to art theft I will add a better one in PS and then enable downloads again*

I sized it wrong last time and DA got mad at me :iconscaredplz:

My other mermaid pic was a deep sea mermaid, though this one here is better equipped for shallower waters preferably areas with a lot of sea grass or kelp for camouflage.

( I like designing fantasy type creatures and these mermaids are more loosely based on the mythological stories not 'The little mermaid" I really don't like Disney....)

This is nicely done! it look svery professional! i love what you did with bubbles in the water! although they look more like dots than bubbles...but i can tell that they are bubbles which is good! the anatomy is done nicely and nothing seems disproportioned. The beams from the sun are very beautiful and i like how you made sure to add the beam of light to reflect off of her hair. he tail is nice but it looks slimy...that is good to have but perhaps add more scales to make it seem more like a fish tail. Her face is done nicely as well and im guessing the blue along her eye is makeup? or maybe just to make her seem more like a mermaid. The hair sems very flowy which is very nice to have. Lol i like how you also censored her breast with that bit of hair. Its done nicely and its very professional! nice job~! keep up the good work!

Emotions and colors are what gives a picture expression.
The colors you've implemented well in this case.
The green light that shines from above, is a really good mood.
The body shape, and the curved back, everything was correct and its proportions.
And the hair curled so beautifully in the water, like in real life.
I find it very nice that you stayed at a convenient, multi-colored green.
It's nice because it's not too colorful but not too dull.
The facial expression of the mermaid you also get really nice out.
I hope I can again write such a laudatory critique about your pictures.

Really good work!

The work done in this piece is superb, the work across the board is great but there a few things that prevent it from being perfect. To start with praise, the work on the mermaid's skin is rich, the patterns on the flesh, the lighting from above and overall look is good. The hair and tail are great, good care taken with both and they compliment each other.

The lighting may not be typical, but it does work very well here. The only criticisms I can off are regarding the hands and scales. The hands blocked by the tail do remove a chance to add more, but it does flow with the piece so it might be hard to do with ruining it. The scales seem to lacking in detail, they are there but could have done with more.

Regardless of those issues, the piece is finely crafted. Congratulations Moni, fine work.

Stunning. All of your work is.

The colours are vivid and the brush strokes give the image depth which really gives off the feeling of being surrounded by the ocean.

Your use of off-yellow as the more dominant colour with green as the second kind of undertone is so out-there!

In the shallows I might actually mistake her for seaweed!

The pose of this mermaid - although a tad awkward - is utterly captivating.

It's as if she's saying, "Follow me, if you dare" Sending the message of not wanting to be alone yet, at the same time, afraid of letting someone see her world.

The first thing that caught me are the nice curves and flows in this painting.
Nice skintones and the face looks appealing.

I am not fond of the yellowish lighting, A cooler more blueish tint would emphasize more the feeling of under water, but it's a stylistic choice so I will leave it to that.

I wish you didn't hide the hands behind the tail; hands are very expressive (and yes i know they sometimes are a pain in the ass to draw) but it would add more to this image; complementing the elegant flows of the tail and hair.

The Tail itself could use more details (some scales here and there) as is now it looks too smooth; same with the hair: a bit more refinement would take this image to another level.

All in all this is a good effort that shows you are a skilled artist; especially the brusstrokes are expressive.

Well done

His way of drawing and coloring is wonderful! Used and abused of green! The way the hair was drawn, it's wonderful to observe each line of this work. I also love when you can see where the artist spent the pincel (brush, airbrush, whatever). The effect of the lights it's awesome! And it's so pretty this combination of green, mermaid and water! The mermaid's face is so delicate. Notice the look of the mermaid, rounded face, slender frame. Mermads are very attractive! Even I'm that woman could be seduced by a being so beautiful as this.

The legend of the mermaids is epic! It's just a legend, but it is more than enough reason to give inspiration to artists!

This is quite obviously a well thought out piece. Everything from the lighting to the pose and facial expression of the mermaid has been executed with the utmost care.

At first glance one might be overwhelmed by the sense of detail, but it's definitely worth a closer look. The bubbles, the lighting, the details on her tail and arms. All a mark of serious patience and dedication. It is no small wonder why your work consistently makes the front page.

So far it would definitely seem that you are expanding your wings this year. These original pictures are a nice break from the fanart I'm accustomed to seeing from you, plus this will definitely make one heck of a desktop for those with the "boring" monitors.

You most definitely have my respect as a fellow artist Ms. Moni! Looking forward to seeing more of your exquisite work in the future.

First of all, I really like the use of the cool colors here from a yellowish-green to a dark blue-gray. Even the bubbles have a nice feel to them thanks to the color.

I don't think I can peg an emotion to this piece, but I think 'calm but a little tense' works. The mermaid is looking at you just as if she's just been spotted and both her and the observer are waiting for what happens next. The mermaid is certainly beautiful and draws you into her gaze.

The only thing I'm not quite feeling is the top with the strokes of yellows and greens. But I guess that's just a personal thing. The bubbles are a bit abstract like those strokes, but that just emphasizes that the mermaid is real (well, concrete) and all you really need to look at.

Straight, and to the point, just like the title suggests.

This piece of artwork is completely heart-stopping. The lighting you did coming through the water looks so realistic! The colours you chose work really well together and I'm loving the fushia spots on her body and tail and the blue at her eyes! It made her pop!! I've always loved your art to begin with, the "sketchyness" looks random yet it comes together in a perfect picture!! The fading in the water from green to blue is really cool! But if I had to tell you what you could do to make this piece better, is that I would have liked to see her interacting a bit more with her surroundings, like in your "Underwater" drawing. But over all I would like to say I truly enjoy being a part of your watchers, it makes my day better everytime I see your art.

Another great piece from you! I really enjoyed this one especially the lighting, how it shimmers down on the mermaid's hair and tail. Looking at this first I had many thoughts about what it could mean and one of them was how the mermaid could be in danger~

The bubbles are also realistic and I loved the way you made the ocean darker as it slowly went further and further in to the depths of the ocean. ^^

I really can't think of any thing else to improve this piece, perhaps adding different colours such as a light orange or pink to the light, like a sunset?

Looking forward to future art from you! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)"/>
