Chibi Remy and Ysabel

This is a scene from the book A Demon and His Witch from the Welcome to Hell paranormal romance series by Eve Langlais. It is my second drawing inspired by the series.

Remy and Ysabel both work for the big boss downstairs who is determined to pair up his minions in an attempt to boost the numbers for his army, however being who he is there is bound to be mischief in the process. Remy is a half-demon with a well deserved reputation for going through women like water and not wanting to settle down. All that changes when he is introduced to Ysabel, a witch who was betrayed by her only lover and who now refuses to fall for another man. Now Remy must figure out a way to convince Ysabel that he has changed his womanizing ways, and save her from a torturous fate if they cannot find some runaway souls in time. The picture also shows Felipe, the hellcat that Ysabel raised who is not exactly what he seems and has a dislike for any man who tries to hurt his "mama".

This is my take on the scene where Remy first meets Felipe. It is not exactly accurate but I thought it fit the mood of the scene. The most difficult thing for me this time was figuring out how to show depth in the picture since the characters are all standing in different planes, with the window looking at a landscape of hell being a third plane. I am still not entirely happy with the way that came out particularly the corner with the refrigerator in it, but it was a learning experience. I tried to include more details in the window, from the guard standing on the wall outside to the venus fly trap type plan on the windowsill and of course the ash rain which I am still not entirely happy with. Oh well! You draw, you learn!
