Illo for 'Rising Son' by MommySpike Illo for 'Rising Son' by MommySpike
This was one of my art entries for the Phoenix Gate Anthology and the accompanying illustration for my story entry, "Rising Son." [link]

Since the story didn't make it into the anthology, I asked for its illustration to be withdrawn. (It bothered me to have one in without the other.) *shrugs* Call it artistic license. My other story entry *did* make it into the PGA and copies of the book can be purchase at Gathering 2004 in Montreal.

Inks and Prisma greytone markers.

I don't understand something... What happened to Graeme?

In "Rising Son" [link] , Graeme refers to a Space Spawn attack on London in the future. He loses Lucy and two of their children in the attack and his wings are severely damaged because of it. The Space Spawn thing was something Greg Weisman dreamed up for a Gargoyle spin-off series.

Does this story trail off from the main Timedancer stories?

I have a question...I keep seeing "Ariana" and the orginal cast...what's the main website that hauses thies storyline, I'm curious. :D I know it's not ligitmiate, meaning Disney (c)'ed, but it's definately North American Doujinshi......It's just been a curiosity of mine...>.>

BEAUTIOUS drawing, btw.

Ariana is Brooklyn's daughter from The Gargoyles Saga, which can be found here: [link]
I was one of the founding members and I wrote stories for the 1st and 2nd seasons, as well as doing a lot of the original character sketches.

Great drawing. :) I'm guess that's Brooklyn in the robe? Another question. For the story, how did they get around the fact that the Pheonix Gate is lost in time when Goliath threw it into the portal? (yes I'm a geek)

Nope, that's not Brooklyn in the robe.... hit the link for the story and find out! As for the Phoenix Gate, it turns up in 1998 Manhattan where it whisks Brooklyn away on his adventures as the Timedancer. (One of Greg's original Gargoyles spin-off ideas that was explored further by a fan-based writing project, The Gargoyles Saga.)

I loved the story and was almost convinced that it was from the Timedancer Series on TGS... but then that would be because you wrote for those if I remember correctly. I love the pic too... and don't take offence but would it ever be done in color as well? I'm guessing black white and gray tones because of the possable printing process.
Very good work as usual!

btw... how did A-kon go for you?

Honestly, A-kon was a blur. *L* The two life-drawing panels that I did went well but I felt like I missed out on a lot of stuff. I only sold five things in the art show but sales were down for a lot of people. (The art show was on the 3rd floor with console games and the escalators between the 2ns & 3rd floors kept breaking down. Most people never got past the Dealer's Room.)

that really sucks - wish you had a better turnout on this stuff. :D

you really are amazing at your craft... next time get a place in the dealers room - i know plenty of cons where artists do that. :D
