Once upon before time
There were two sisters
They were never born
so what happens when one dies?
One of them knew the living
One of them saw the world
And when they got in a fight
So great was their sorrow
that She forgot the feelings
And She forgot the experiences
If all that could be rewinded
If all that could be reborn
Would she see the world again
Would she feel the love again?
***
The Festival of Death had started, but no-one quite felt like being in the festive mood.
The events from last Carnival of Life still ringing in people's ears, the death of the God of the Dead still burned in their minds. A fact that those who loved her and those who hated her had to accept.
Everyone had agreed that this was to be the Funeral of Death.
Maybe, just maybe, this time we could guide her soul home, just like she has done so many time for us.
***
Yet when people had already accepted the sullen mood, a shadow glided over the festival. Then second, third, followed by five others. In same manner as Death had once glided over the festival to bring people to the prairies, there now stood eight aerials in front of the massive statue of Death. Winged Kukuris, yet smaller than even the common ones.
No-one knew how to react. Aerials hadn't been seen in forever, and suddenly they were there. In a neat line, before one of them stepped forwards, wings politely tucked on it's chest. It looked at the crowd, tilting its head as if passing judgement. Then it made a deep bow.
"Greetings. We are the envoys of Death. The last living of our kin."
A soft murmur erupted from the crowd. No-one quite knew how everyone, people and Kukuris alike were able to understand the speech. In same manner as Death, you couldn't quite place what language it was, nor how to speak it, but you could understand it perfectly.
"When we were born, the influence of the Life and Death was strong within us. When Life refused to even look at our souls to direct them to her sister, our numbers slowly died off. In fear of losing all of us, our Mother granted the last of us a boon of immortality. We share pieces of her soul within us."
The aerial rose it's head as the next in line stepped forward.
"You're all aware of Her death due to her sister's attack. However, for her and her sister, they do not live and thus do not truly die."
The aerial gave a look at the suspicious crowd, and bowed its head while spreading its wings.
"She is still within us. In the ground you walk, in the wind you listen. In the flowers, in the running river, fragments of her sleeping like a lost child."
"For her kind, death is a reboot. She will remember herself, but will be grown anew. A concept difficult for even us to completely understand. But we know that this time, she can grow stronger. She can grow without the sorrow chaining her so deeply. And she is the only thing we have against wrath of Life."
"The fragments of her soul are currently hidden" the first aerial continues. "They can appear as any normal item, but will reveal themselves in presence of another." The aerial motioned towards itself.
"We can sense the direction of the fragments, but do not know the world well, for we have stayed at the safety of our mountain."
Third aerial stepped forward, with its head held high.
"With your help we can rebirth Death. You in?"

After long search of the shards, it seemed that most were found. The aerials gathered around them, and began to hum. A song faint and distant, from aeons away, seemed to pierce the silence that was engulfing the festival area. Then something started to happen. In unison the shards began to dance, emitting pure bright light, circling around each other but never quite touching each other until last minute.
What was the result was a single egg, which resembled a Kukuri egg but was full of crackles which gently shined faint blue light through.

The aerials requested the townpeople to teach the newly born Death, so give her different view on life. Truly enough, even while she seemed to retain her memories, her behaviour was that of a puppy's - everything she saw she met with childlike glee, as if experiencing it for the first time.
As the festival was coming to an end, the small Death climbed on top of her statue - now multiple times larger than what she was. As she spread her wings, a silence fell to the festival place as if on a wordless command. The aerials landed on top of the statue, back turned to their God, and bowed their heads. She took a deep breath.
"I would... I would like to th-thank everyone."
Even when her voice weak and meek, it still echoed clear in everyone's head.
"I cannot begin by words just how much you all have helped me. Helped us."
She gestured to the aerials in front of her.
She gestured to the aerials in front of her.
"I have done many mistakes, and many bad decisions. It's only natural some of you hold deep hatred for me, and for that I hope no one blames them. For they are allowed to their feelings, and I can only hope to one day redeem myself for them."
"But for now, there is something I can do. I have seen a lot what I had forgotten. You all have shown me world besides my sorrow. You've shown me strength I had forgotten exists. And thus, I have decided. For long I was afraid to lose my last children, yet in my fear I am the one who brought their doom."
"Try as I might, living is not what I understand well. Yet, you've shown me life worth living for. My sister will not allow my children in her realm, but I truly believe that you can help them. I entrust them and their brethen to you."

And She, the God of Death, creator of ancestors of Kukuris, bowed in front of the people.
Festival of Death has ended.
