The moon rose behind the trees, marking the end of the week and the festival. A month had passed since it all started. The moon shone it’s blue and calming light on the dead carcass. No more wheezing nor gasping, the shroomie mother was gone, having finally found peace. 
The shroomies themselves were clueless, lost and purposeless without their beloved aerial momma. They no longer meant any harm to anyone and in fact they were so docile, they could be easily picked up. The town’s people did not yet know what to do with all of them, but this matter was not their biggest concern right now. 

Everyone, kukuris and people alike, were eager to see if this cruel joke Life had orchestrated would be enough to call for Deaths attention and bring her back. But nobody came. The night passed and so did the next day, but nothing happened. Even when the peace finally settled, the sky was empty. 


As the weeks passed, all kinds of rumours started to spread. Had Death disappeared for good? If yes, for what reason? Why had Life created such monster to disturb her sisters own festival? Was Death somewhere close, hiding with her children? What was the meaning of making a shroom mother of one of Death’s own children? Many questions lingered in the air. 

Another rumor - or more like a worry - emerged about the next Carnival of Life. Would Death accept this disturbance and insult on her festival without any consequences? The only certainty was that something was about to happen and kukuris could only wait and see, sharpening their claws and preparing for the next showdown.
