Kauai oo head (mini)

This is a special bird that sadly went extinct in 1987 in Hawaii. This is the Kauaʻi ʻōʻō. The last pair of the species was last seen in 1981 with footage of the male in 1985 and in 1987, his voice was heard in a heartbreaking sound recording. Even more sad is that in between the male's calls, the female would join her part in his song. Calling for a female that will never come to him. His voice was never heard again since the sound recording was produced.
