The difference between Illustration and other art is something that many people aren't too sure about. Simply put, illustration is artwork that is created purposefully to communicate ideas, instructions or a narrative.

Telling stories is how we have learned for millenia. Cave paintings, Greek and Roman painted Urns and the Bayeux Tapestry are three excellent examples of early narrative illustration, and illustrations are still how people are taught all manner of things, from nursery to adulthood, learning everything from history to biology.

Is it ok if I illustrate Seth throwing away parts of his brother Osiris? *no blood, I'll imagine that I'm drawing an illustration for a children's book* The myth describes the rebirth of Osiris, from fully-functional Pharaoh to God of the underworld as a mummy. [link]) --add this in the end: ")" since the link won't work without it.
I'll write a description of course!

Cool xD

I have one question: The piece must only show the story myth or we can just show the characters? an example: minotaurs and valkyries in the same piece of work are allowed?

The entry guidelines say that comics are allowed to be entered, but it doesn't specifically say if spoken dialogue is allowed. I'm thinking of adding a bit of dialogue related to the story, and I would like to know if this ok or if only narative writing explaining the story is allowed.

Do we need to have a specific story/legend for our picture, or can it be a general idea? For example, could my illustration be that of a werewolf in representation of the idea of werewolves as a legend, or would it need to have a specific werewolf story to go along with it? (Hope my question's not too confusing...)

It is a contest focused on the narrative so it must be a specific story.

If you won't mind answering a quick question.
May we make a multiple drawing of many myths, legends, or whatever each of us are doing?
Sorry to have been a burden.
