MOKO OCTs - What's going onHello all,
I've been meaning to talk with you about where we're at on future OCTs. As is obvious, our grand ambitions for a new OCT have yielded little movement for a while now. Part of it was a traumatic personal event that I am not yet ready to talk about publicly that caused a massive depression spike. Part of it is Cory (SaintKhan) and I have been exceptionally busy trying to get our company off the ground and grow our own projects, like my Webcomic and our Storytelling Podcast. And part of it is that, somewhere along the line, we lost the fun of OCTs and we're trying to find it again. We lost touch with that spark, with the joy, and OCTs just became an overwhelming third job. We tried to please as many people as we could, but the result was that we weren't pleasing ourselves.
That doesn't mean we're not thinking about doing an
SUMA TIME - Closes TODAYMany of you have asked how you can help. So here's what we're thinking:
Help us make the final drawings for each of the final races we've brainstormed.
We've made concept sketches, but we haven't done anything to finalize them. This will be your chance to make your own additions to the world. We haven't thought about elements like fashion, architecture, etc, and you're welcome to come up with your own concepts based on the concept material. I'm not sure yet if we'll select specific drawings to represent each race, or do a compilation, but we'll figure that out once we see the response. Cory and I do reserve veto rights on an idea if it clashes too much with the overall narrative we're working on. I don't think that will come up much, but I did want to be up front about it.
How it works
We'll do one race at a time, and people will have two weeks to complete their drawings and illustrations for that race. When you've finished your d
Q: What's the OCT progress?I recently received two question on my Tumblr that I felt were relevant here, so I'm sharing it & my answer below!
Q: How's the progress on the OCT going? I really can't wait to get writing!
I’m glad you’re excited! Unfortunately, progress is slow. We’ve got a lot of other projects, conventions, and workshops to tackle right now. Since the OCT is a volunteer effort, whereas all the other things we do have the potential to earn money, the OCT now has to be the lowest priority. When I was an engineer, that wasn’t an issue as much. Now, given the choice between paying the bills and not, we don’t have that luxury anymore.
That’s part of why support through our Patreon campaign, buying products from our store, or using one of my s
2014 OCT DevelopmentSaintKhan and I are hard at work on the next OCT! We have a pretty good idea of what we want to do, but it's a bit of a departure from our previous OCT structure, so we're taking time to iron out the ideas. Hopefully you'll all be excited for the final product!
We're also working on the cast and setting for this new story, so expect to see concept sketches periodically as we go. These may not be the final ideas that we go with -- they're concept sketches, not final works -- but we thought you might enjoy a peek behind the curtain on the development process!
I'll also be re-arranging folders, consolidating galleries, and working on a new look for the new OCT. We may need some help later on for creating new skins for the journals, as well as the final introduction materials, so please keep an eye on these journals for future updates!
Hope you're all having a great new year and are looking forwards to a creative 2014!
PHOCT winner and future OCT newsAnd the winner is...
Thank you to both contestants for some stunning and dramatic final stories. You each took a unique theme for your finale and created some truly fantastic work. I'll be following up with both of you for your prizes.
What's next for MOKO-OCTs
SaintKhan and I have been hard at work with development for the next OCT. Right now we're debating really mixing up the typical format we've used in the past, and we're trying to work out the bugs in the different systems we're evaluating. We want to make Spectator Entries have a much bigger role in our next event. Whether that means some sort of team dynamic, or a war, or something completely different we haven't decided yet, but we're evaluating all the options we can. We'll be posting everything for the next event on this account, so just keep watching for updates!
Thank you to everyone for ma
Final Round EntriesEDIT: At the request of both contestants, we're adding a week to the Judging deadline. I'll admit, it's a little odd to be asked to extend my own deadline, but they've both assured me that would be less stressful for them, so...we shall make it so. Judging is now due on the 27th.

[CLOSED] COMMISSION SLOTSA COUNTDOWN TIMER TO OPENING MY COMMISSIONS
I hope you all are doing well
I'm opening a few commissions slots right now. But as I promised to some of you, they all are "first come - first serve slots". Also, commissioners would be added to my "To-do list" in the order they took the slot, which means that the one who took the slot first would get his order finished first. This time it'll take me from one to four weeks to finish your commission (depends on your number on my "To-do list"). It might take longer as my schedule is unstable ^_^' But if I need a lot of extra time I will definitely tell you.
YOU CAN ONLY TAKE A SLOT WHEN THE TITLE OF THIS JOURNAL SAYS "OPEN"
NOTICE - 1: One slot - one drawing
Some quick recognition tipsI remember it can be quite tough to gain recognition on DeviantArt when you first start out. It's a massive website with so many features and ways to interact! When I started out, I was lucky to have a friend of mine giving me a little shoutout in their journal, which gained me my first couple of watchers. I'll do the same in this journal for some new Deviants I found that have really cool galleries, and I thought of giving a couple of tips as well on gaining recognition:
~ TIPS ~
Loads of interaction! DeviantArt is considered a social media website as well as an art site, and offers many more tools for interaction, feedback, and commenting than Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr ever will! Use it wisely If you want to receive comments, and have people view your art, you have to put some effort in yourself as well. Comment on other people's artwork, +fav it, +watch those you really like, keep communicating. Try interacting with other new ar

16 Examples of how NOT to Pitch a LoglineI joined a Twitter dealie where you pitch to agents over Twitter, and I swear I learned more in one day about pitching than I have reading any number of how-to-write books.
A logline is a one sentence pitch of your story. It can be used on Twitter, but it's also used in person as an elevator pitch. It's the distilled essence of stakes, story, and character. Some people find it frustrating and intimidating, but I find it easier to do a logline than a query.
I got a few bites from agents, so I was quite pleased. I gained a lot of sympathy for them around 3 in the afternoon, though. Every pitch starts looking the same, and the really, really stupid ones start standing out. Some suffer from bad metaphors, bland stakes, or simple incomprehensibility. I've got 16 examples right here for you, so if any of your loglines look like these, you may want to consider a rewrite. (Incidentally, don't post your own loglines for my perusal. I'm not going to sit here and tell a bunch of people they

Hello Friends New and Old!Hey gang! This entry's been a long time coming and I've got a lot of ground to cover, so let's just jump in!
First off, to whoever got me the core membership: THANK YOU!! Your kindness was a big factor in my decision to be more active on dA again. That was a wonderful present so much gratitude and hugs. Wow.
NEW FOLLOWERS (and curious onlookers!)
Welcome! Welcome! And thank you so much for your interest in my work. Regardless of what got you here, I really appreciate your time and energy. I've gotten a lot of questions about my work, views, and all sorts of other stuff. Since I've been away for a while, I'm gonna do an FAQ in a week or two to get you guys up to speed. I did want to give you folks a shout-out though since I know there's been an influx with some of my older work making the rounds again. I'm very grateful to have you here.
Now, to my longtime friends here: You're are probably wondering "Where have you been, K-Bo?" Wow. Where to start... Without getting into to
Hyper-Surreal Fractal Chess Set - The GAMEThe 3D PRINTED
The Project I have been working on subconsciously for years, which I mentioned in my previous post is now finished.
--- The Hyper Surreal Fractalic Mystical Chess set - My Masterpieces ---
The full set is a play in 7 acts about humanity, the evolution and the quest for knowledge through enlightenment and superfluity until the day when mankind finally became the plague of the planet.
A chess set immensely more surreal than Max Ernsts, Marcel Duchamps and Dalís sets.
Chess was made to be played with pieces of pure fractal mathematics, I now know that!

YouTube stuff + Update stuffSo, things are little bit hectic right now, and YouTube has been giving me a bit of hassle lately. I seem to have been losing subscribers since my last stream on my main channel, with a very big loss on my last Animated Atrocities upload, which is worrying, especially because any theory that I've had towards the numbers doesn't fit all of the evidence. (If people were getting sick of me talking about Growing Around stuff, then I should have had a positive turnaround when I uploaded an Animated Atrocities video). Add to that that like every single video this year has been copyright claimed, and let's just say that things have been discouraging as of late.
Other than that, I'm trying to stay optimistic, although the hot summer is making that a little bit difficult. But, some stuff that's coming up I guess. Most importantly is my Animated Atrocity review - with the upcoming Rugrats reboot, it's time to tackle Angelica and Suzie Preschool Daze, that show there that lasted four episo
