Welcome to MobileCreative

Greetings Group Searcher,

Welcome to MobileCreative. Like most Groups, this one was set up because I felt there was a lack of Groups devoted to this particular subject. I found groups for niche fields, either just one kind of photography, or art developed in one kind of application. I also found more generalized mobile art Groups, but they weren't accepting membership. So I figured, let's have one place where we can show off our mobile based art, regardless of the type of art it is.

So if you've taken some outstanding pictures thanks to a specialize camera app, if you've drawn something unique with a mobile art application on your phone or tablet, or maybe you combined apps to create something spectacular, we want to see it.

For now, we'll only have a few galleries. Photography, Digital Art or "Mobile Inspired" art (art that features a mobile device, rather than one created by it.) As the need grows, we'll split into more specific subsections.

We only have two RULES right now.

1. Please don't submit your art to the Featured Gallery. It will not go through. Art submitted to the other galleries is automatic. Featured is for art from the other galleries that we want to highlight for the month.

2. Please put your best foot forward. Whether that's when choosing what kind of art to submit, or when leaving comments in our respective discussion areas.

Here too, we'll only become more specific with rules as the need arises.

Thanks, and have fun with it.

There are probably as many camera apps on the respective mobile markets as there are real cameras on the consumer market. Some use your phone's stock camera where you can add a filter effect after the fact, while others use a built-in camera where effects can be chosen before or after getting your shot. Some of the best apps out there not only give you the option of choosing a camera type, but an exposure as well. Which gives you some remarkable flexibility on the fly, whether you know exactly what you're doing or not. Experimentation, coupled with the convenience mobility brings, can sometimes give you your best results.

Being a Samsung Vibrant Galaxy S owner myself, I've tried over a dozen Android apps in my quest to become a better photographer. My personal favorites are Magic Hour (potentially hundreds of options since you have full editing controls over the filter and you can submit and download filters from a free in-app market), Retro Camera (only six stock cameras effects, but they return high res, high quality images using filters that are hard to duplicate) and my newly installed Pudding Camera (which has 12 free cameras and 8 free film types that most other apps normally charge extra for.) Haven't had a chance to use that last one much yet, and eager to get out of the house so I can get some photo ops I haven't already shot a hundred times. (Don't ask me why I keep taking pictures of my stove. I just do. o_O)

What are your favorite camera apps and why? Have you settled on one or a few? Share with us your mobile app experience and why you feel your favorite has the best options.

Is this group still relatively active? I just want to make sure I'm not joining a dead/dying group.

I never intended to do too many blog posts, but focus mostly on art and photography. So yes, it's as active in that sense.
