Rearing Dragon by mmiller8 Rearing Dragon by mmiller8
I sketched a line drawing of this a couple weeks ago at a roleplaying session with my friends. Devoid of many roleplaying skills, I myself just sat and drew.

It's the first dragon i've ever drawn. It's also the first thing i've been proud of in a while, so I think i'ma start painting a lot again.

I know it's a little messy, but the more I cleaned it up the less I liked it. It stays like this.

Corel Painter 8 owns me.

Firsts for me:
Dragon drawing
Corel Painter Painting
Clouds i'm happy with
Success in only ONE DAY; actually more like four hours!!!
Not being burnt out after a painting

I've talked enough. Enjoy!

I love this dragon. She (he?) is so full of life and energy. She's spewing lava-like fire and almost looks like she's doing a jig mid-flight. Good first dragon, gooood. (pets the dragon) o o

Thanks! I really wish I hadn't decided to keep the black lines shining through; I thought it looked cool at the time but now I realize that it is just shitty shitty shitty. :P

Yeah, I had a similar experience recently with a drawing I did in one of my art journals for one of my art therapy classes (I'm working toward an art therapy certificate). I drew a sightless, blind godess-type woman/creature with her eye closed. I thought, "She can't have her eyes closed. She has to see!" So I put a little dot where her eye would be. Then I read something that described a sightless, blind creature that was meant to be drawn that way because it "saw" through intuition, and feeling and it's oneness with the universe. So now I wish I hadn't put that eyball there.

Eh, don't let something having been done before discourage you. I'm painting a chair in class and one of the art teachers came up behind me and said "oh, yellow and blue, like Van Gogh." So I thought "fuck," and then I remembered that he even painted a chair too, and got really pissed. Then I remembered that I don't care. And my chair is more comfy. And I have both ears. ;)

You give good advice. You are wise for sucha young grasshopper. Anyway, guess fucking what?!! I did it! I learned some things in Photoshop 7 and vwala! Look at my new deviation! I'm so fucking excited I could spit :pokejark: (spits out an alien, then sucks it back in) Well, good night my friend. Until we meet again, in the stacks.

i agree wiht ~dtrudo about the feet. they indeed could use some work..but it looks great.
i like the messy look. infact alot of the time, like you said, drawing look worse after you clean them up.

That's pretty good for a first time. Good job on the wings, looks like the feet could use a little work though. More of just the foot on the right. ;) Clouds are great as well.
