Oranges by mmiller8 Oranges by mmiller8
This took me a while. I just finished it tonight because i'm entering my work into a state contest.

This is a sketch I did that I colored in photoshop and opencanvas. It took me a long time because I get angsty about drawing a lot and I slow down. I quit working on this for months before I finished it tonight.

I hope you enjoy!

You did that in photoshop? Wow. Our teacher just made us do stuff like that by hand... and I'm not sure why. It probably would have been just as easy to do it in photoshop too. I love the dimples you put on the orange. That REALLY makes it look good.

Thanks. I did a sketch of it in real life and then colored over it in PS.

hey, this isn't bad =) I think you have some capabilities in painting, you just need to develop them. what I suggest you is trying to cover your sketch completely (because otherwise it looks more like a colorization than like a painting) and giving it depth. you have a nice still life here, but the single elements look flat, like lying on top. define a clear light source and create stronger shadows, they add a lot to the depth of objects
when you finished your work check for little flaws. near the lower right edge of the orange for example is a long empty spot, you simply forgot painting there =) same for the left side of the little pieces =)
anyways, good work :)

I love the way it's not so perfect in shapes just the way everything else is not so perfect in this world. Wonderful job as always. :D

Makes you almost smell the open orange, doesn't it? I love the smell of oranges.

That is my useless comment for you. :)
