Make It Yours by mmiller8 Make It Yours by mmiller8
I took my sketch of a pop can ([link]) and colored it in Photoshop. In all, this took me about six hours (including the sketch).

**UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2, 2004**

My good friend ~DrTall has bought me a prints accout. That money came directly from his Awesomeness, so go :worship: him!!! And buy prints. They're the reason I flipped out and reworked this. :P

I had a record number of suggestions(2!) to feature this piece, and with such oppresive public pressure, I am in no position to oppose! Thus, Make It Yours by mmiller8 is today's feature, as selected by you, the public! It's a very well drawn piece, demonstrating a considerable amount of skill and patience. Good stuff, lets keep the submissions coming! (Selected by +ekud) ( Featured by ekud )

Wonderful texture work here. The image really shines (as real metal would do.)

from the thumby... I thought it was a person with his knees in his arms... I need to get me eyes checked :o (Eek)

this is amazing Eyepopping
I like the rawness despite the realism, the way you know its a painting even its so real you think its a photograph Nod hmm. I hope I'm making at least a little sense =P (Razz)

Holy crap! Jawdrop

This is bloody gorgeous! I love the vibrant colors and the shadows you've created by the crumpling of the can. Your coloring job is magnificent and the attention to detail really shows. Bloody brilliant and gorgeous work!!! +favlove Nod

Awesome work, man!

You've gotta have some insane discipline and drive to recreate these levels of detail.

Kudos!

Cha-ching. Very nice. The top looks extremely realistic. Now here's a challenge: try a old glass coke bottle shattered on the ground. :D (Big Grin)

Wow..Ok..I've done about a million of these in art class.. I see millions of other people do them..all the time for art class... The idea in itself isn't very original... That may just be for me though.. My school has a thing for drawing soda cans..

The border takes awa y from the picture itself...

The drawing in itself is good though.

Never before... have I seen a piece of artwork that has made me want to...

...move to Michigan so I can get 10 cents back for my empty cans!

Anyways, I really like this piece, as it demonstrates your ass-kicking skills not only in detail drawing, and shading, but now colouring and texturing too. You rock, my friend. Most severely.

PS: Also dig the funky retro-70s green border.
