Gone

G

Gone

Every night, torment overtakes my soul; Thoughts of happiness, replaced by eternal guilt; For the emptiness of a love long forgotten; Or an embrace, that I will never feel. Every night, darkness consumes my mind; Opening the abyss, allowing despair to take hold; Blackness engulfs my once loving heart; And all my passions, fade into the depths. Every night, your eyes peer into my wounds; And every morning, you are gone.

Golden Maize

G

Golden Maize

The golden maize stands tall within the abyss, Guiding the forsaken toward oblivion, But still, the deafening silence is broken by the tattered man, His eyes staring through sewn sockets, His plague-infested cries fall upon heedless ears, Fear naught my children, for the vile outlanders shall not enter, Their revolting infestation cannot break our sacred barriers, Rise above the roots and wallow in the fruits of our harvest, For inside the maize, absolution will be granted, And, the interlopers will be swallowed by the abyss.

Closing In

C

Closing In

Torn between darkness and light, my sanity wavers; Thoughts of despair close in, I am surrounded by this unseen torment, Suffocating my every step, Smothering my every desire, Every day I spiral further down the tower, The smells of decay have permeated every inch, What was once five, is now two; But, for how long? I can feel nemesis closing in, Their presence obscured by faint sorrow filled sounds, As the mold overtakes what little remains, How much longer can I survive? Before the darkness engulfs the light.

Bound in Desolation

B

Bound in Desolation

Years have passed, but still, I wait, I reach for you, I call to you, Yet, this deafening silence surrounds me, Torturing my soul with emptiness. Eternal loneliness takes control. My pulse slows as I remember your pale curves; Your eyes glistening in the moonlight, Our final embrace, Our blood upon the altar; Alas, the elixir of life lay before us, As fears turn to screams. My heart races with thoughts of salvation, With a solitude broken by your smile, Your touch, guiding me through the sacred labyrinth, Breaking the hallowed chains that bind us in desolation, The shallow void cries to thee, And the pathway to eternity opens wide.

Under My Bed

U

Under My Bed

Midnight calls, eyes close, Fear overtakes my sanity, These voices are real; in the closet-under the bed, everywhere, I can hear them breathing; Calling me into their realm, I try but cannot see them, I just know they are here taunting my every thought, tormenting me about life, deeds, even misdeeds, Their laughter fuels my tensions, My pulse quickens as I am in their sway, paralyzed, I cannot move, My body consumed by the black, My gasps fall on dying lights, This could be my last breath, Please, Constance, enter my dreams, Please, save me.

Forever

F

Forever

Your image tells a story of what once was, A lasting impression etched in eternity; tainted by blood, A silent reminder of our sacred bond, Of everything that could be, Memories flow down the sleeve, beauty for the grave; Silent heartbeats I still hold dear, The needle, the visage, one solemn vow, Forever we will be… Forever will be.

A Touch of Fall - NaPoWriMo 2016 - Day 1

Soon, the chilled darkness will overtake sanity, The brisk winds howl across the now moonlit field, And the hours of light fade into oblivion. For months, the shadows tease the senses, Overwhelming the brilliant sky with the blackness from the stars, And the blanket of white drowns the sea of green. Another hour has passed and another day grows short, The cold leads to shivers, your touch, but a dream, Will Fall ever end?

Where Am I?

W

Where Am I?

Where am I, who, where? Paralysis takes hold of my body and I am petrified. Who would have thought, after this long journey, I would be the alien on this desolate red planet. I can only imagine what I look like to these creatures. My teeth protruding like razors from beneath this glass shroud. Of course, that may be the only thing keeping me alive, though. Maybe they believe I am the monster, and they are afraid. Good thing that they have not noticed my shaking. I would be done for. As every minute passes, a deafening silence seals this lair. My warmth is shattered by a swirling tide of emotion. I am both astonished and horrified with this

I see you from a distance and I cannot touch. Oh, how I want to; I crave the life force and nectar you harbor. Your pale skin; your sparkling eyes, my pulse quickens as I stare through the shrouded veil, I can almost taste you. You are close, as I can feel your warmth. Yet, as I reach for you, the emptiness consumes me. You have vanished and my longing continues. Everyday, it is the same ritual. I sneak upon the luscious garden toward your window. Your stunning beauty transcending the loneliness I feel inside this desolate heart. My hideous appearance drowning any chance I have at capturing a soul as pure as you. Still, I stare into your roo

An Alien on the Farm - Chapter 5 - Confrontation

Patrick was still mad that his father did not believe him. It was not his imagination; there was a strange little grey man and some type of ship in his field. “Why won’t he believe me,” Patrick said, “why does he always say it is my imagination?” Patrick was indeed right, there was something weird taking place in the field. Unfortunately, most adults refuse to believe that any type of alien activity is real. Instead, they would rather ignore it, and tell their children it is something from their imaginations. Ironically, aliens and UFOs are not the only subjects overlooked by parents and adults. Most of the tim

Sanguine Tears, Scarlet Dreams

After many months of facing the harsh reality trapped within their relationship, Edgar knew the finality of the situation. He could no longer hide from the inevitable. He must face the harsh truth that rested inside the decaying tomb outside Fordham. Although he hated what he was about to undertake, he knew that he must say goodbye to his dearest friend, lovely Virginia. Four o’clock, Edgar arrived at the entrance to the cemetery. The frigid winds howling off Long Island Sound sent a chill down his spine. He could feel the emptiness in his soul grow larger as he glanced beyond the grey willows toward the Valentine family crypt in the f

They tore him limb from limb until his divine grey was unveiled for the mass. They were fighting ea

No Face, He Had No Face!

It is another dreary Monday outside of Summit View. The heavy grey clouds again shroud this dismal asylum in darkness. For Nicola Markov it has been six long years since he was sentenced to life inside the Mason Psychiatric Institute; six long years since Markov was arrested and tried for the brutal murder of two young campers on his property. “He had no face, that damn bastard, the man of cloth, had no face,” Dr. Alexander said to his colleague George Stephens. “Those are the only words Nicola Markov has spoken in his seven years here at the hospital, and I still have no idea what they mean. He just stares at the wall repe

Chapbook Question???

Chapbook Question???

I recently found out that the Diablo themed chapbook based on a darker crusader, who like the Knights Templar embraced Baphomet, did not win the contest that it was written for. Now, I am at a crossroads and do not know what I should do with it. Does anyone have any ideas? Right now, it is just verse, should I add artwork and self publish? Or should I find another place to submit it to?

Many in here did not know, but I was in the interview process to potentially become a staff writer for Ripley's Believe It or Not. While the process was amazing, and I eventually made the short list, unfortunately, I found out today that they decided to go with another candidate. I do understand, and wish I had more details, it still leaves me a touch disappointed about the ending. Honestly, I believe that was the perfect writing job for me, and could have been the destination job everyone searches for. Now, I guess it is back to my search for an artist to possible work on a few projects I have in mind. Maybe I will find someone at some poin
