Hello, all! It's about time for a status update. As we have mentioned in the past, we were in the middle of a Netcode and general gameplay system overhaul. We have a lot to talk about: the next release, Android version news, and content much, much further ahead of all of them. We have multiple workstreams behind the scenes, and here's a screenshot showcasing one of them!
First, let's talk about what the next release actually is. Max and the rest of the team knew that we would get feedback from our wider player audience once we released Demo 5. We'd also knew we would be doing at least 1 follow-up release for bug-fixes and the like. As such, we sort of agreed to do a release right after Demo 5 called...Demo 5.1 as a codename. 5.1 was going to be our way of iterating on the experience and directly address most concerns/feedback. Anything that wasn't considered crucial to the release at the time (like RequestBBS) was automatically tabled for our follow-up release.
Forgive the slightly older gif, but we're using it to demonstrate what transpired: scope creep. Not only was Demo 5.1 going to be the true experience content-wise, but then we went way, way further than we expected. Max has done an impeccable job rewriting the entire Netcode system and even some major gameplay elements. Why? Because there were cool features you guys wanted. Take a loot at: The freezing mechanic from Battle Network 6 has been brought to Chrono X, and that needed a rewrite. But that rewrite came with a LOT of positives.
People have begged, and they now shall soon receive. We brought back the fabled "TCG" mechanic from Battle Network 4 and beyond to our multiplayer. What is TCF? Time-Freeze Counter, or "Cut-in" as the official term is dubbed, is when a player is able to interrupt an opponent's Timestop chip with one of their own. So if someone were to use an Areagrab, a time-stop, you could interject with a NaviChip or something else that stops time to get yours in first!
It took months of testing and rewriting to undo our original Netcode structure and build it from the ground up again. A lot of that isn't exactly interesting to show until we present the fruits of our labor! This will also clear up most, or all, of Demo 5.0's original issues with Netcode, and allow us to implement cooler and cooler PvP-centric aspects and features. Moreover, adding/changing components of chips has now never been easier thanks to the incredible work Max has done. He deserves all of your praise and more.
That leaves the question: Is it ready to ship, you ask? No, remember what we mentioned about scope creep? Well...We won't lie to you, we sort of went a little crazy with things we could squeeze into this next release. This will be our best work yet, trumped by only the full-game. Let's get down and see some details, shall we?
We our completely in love with our new Internet. And it was a lot of work making each area look unique, but going forward into the full game, each area will! You know how in most games the tiles are the same with just palette swaps? Not here. Each Net Area will have it's own unique design, its own unique aesthetic. You see how Central Area is advertising Gregar? That will be different than from something like ACDC which will have trees everywhere, which will be different than SciLab and their theme. Also, yes, those are SubChip icons in the style of Mega Man Starforce. Neat, right? Massive shoutout to the art team for making long chi-collecting sessions on the net a visually pleasant experience.
This is something else we are extremely happy about. While Chrono X always had a config tool, it was previously separate from the application, and some people definitely did not notice it right away. With it being fully integrated with the game, changes to your settings will now be seamless. It's the little things that make the experience, and we have a passion that can't be quenched.
Remember when we said that you guys were getting massive buffs? We ain't joking. Are you starting to get the idea of what 5.1 will be? We have buffed almost every chip for the next release in some kind of way. If you can name it, odds are it got buffed. The player avatar has undergone a massive boost in power. Of course, this means some other parts of the game can be tweaked to compensate...
We're also addressing a bit of a sore point for Demo 5, whilst also giving people still playing some kind of endgame challenge. Prepare yourselves for super tough SP bosses. Do they have new moves? Yes. You will be able to earn SP-level MegaChips, too, provided you've decked yourself out with power options.
That's not even close to what the next release will bring. The changelog will be massive. We went back and altered many aspects, like shortening Amp Area, enhancing Ghostman's dungeon, adding new chips to find and more QoL changes. If we started listeing everything out, you'd get lost in it. And honestly, we're probably going to add a bit more content in some form or another, so be prepared for that too.
Guess what this is? It's the Android version. One of our system rewrites will now allow you to fully transfer your 5.1.x saves from one machine to the next. No need to restart, folks! Best of all: Your saves will be fully interchangeable between PC and Android-Mobile. You want to send your save to your phone and continue on the go? You can do that! A massive, amazing development. We have not forgotten about the Android-Mobile crowd, but the PC version is still our priority. Any rewrites , fixes, or changes done to the PC version will also happen on mobile. Thus, mobile will come after the PC version is out. We can still only focus on one version at a time, after all.
The Android version will share similar settings and features with the PC version, but there will be a few things specific to it like haptic feedback. We'll be carefully reviewing what other differences that the mobile port may have and update you on that as needed.
Remember that first screenshot? Well, that's far beyond the scope of the demo. We have multiple work streams going on, and this is the fruits of one of them. We're building out content that will be relevant at much later parts in the story, whilst also making Demo 5.1 a kickass release and working on the mobile port. Again, mad props to the art team, it looks so gorgeous. Hmm...Chrono...just like the title screen. Huh.
And that's it! We're all excited to show off the fruits of our labor soon, but we're in testing right now. And after that testing we'll go back and make some more improvements to the next release. Just you wait. Sorry it's taken us a while. First it was the pandemic which impacted some of our real-life jobs, and then it was the challenges we were presented with when we started doing the rewrites. We have a handle on the latter and are somewhat managing with the former.
If you aren't already, feel free to follow us on our social media platforms:
And of course, our official website, where you don't have to wait for me, the lazy individual to transcribe and update the deviantArt page. All our updates are posted on our website first, and trickle down to our other platforms from there.
Until next time!
Good day, CX fanboys a--*cough cough* Oh, woah. Hold on a second, let me just clear all this dust away. Hot damn I've been really bad at mirroring things over from the main site and our social medias to deviantART. My bad.

Ugh wow it's been over a year? Oof. Sorry about that, everyone. Good news though, we have an update! Or rather, a news update. Killer wanted me to do this whole copy pasta but his intro was super cheesy and lame. I mean really, fanboys and fangirls? What is this, the early 2000s?

For those who aren't aware, we are primarily active on our Twitter (@mmbncx), and on our Facebook page. These two, in addition to the Official MegaMan Battle Network Chrono X Discord Server are the best places to get up to date information on what is going on as of late. I will definitely try my best to be better about putting smaller updates here and there as we have them, but in the meantime, if you're not already aware of those three methods of keeping up with the project, what are you doing? Go go go, follow us on Twitter, Like us on Facebook, and join our Discord.

And now we will return to Killer's lovely update.

Time for a status update on the project: MaxRock fell quite ill towards the tail end of 2018, and has taken a small break on the project, doing a minimum amount of work per day. Without going into personal details, he's had some bad physical health since birth and from time-to-time it impacts his abilities. Don't worry, he's not in any serious life-threatening condition. In fact, he feels a bit better now. He also wants you to know he absolutely hates his situation, too. But because he is feeling a bit better, I got him to implement some features that we were holding off on.

We want to give Chrono X's Internet Areas more of its own identity, so we'll probably move away from the Battle Network 3-esque semi-placeholder tiles. What do you guys think? Make sure to vote in our poll!

There's quite a bit more we did, but they're more overall optimizations introduced by our dev tools and not exactly interesting to show. Content-wise, the other parts of the game are being done in piece-meal for when Max is ready. This is big, since in the past we used to wait a while for spritework. Demo 5 brought us some new helping-hands with regards to pixel art, we've been loving that. Here's something we showed on a stream at one point:

You should know who this is if you played the demo. But while Max is working on his own thing, there's no reason why other members of the team can't do their own content and make progress.

We would like to thank everyone who reported bugs in the multiplayer on our Discord and all of the reported ones have been looked into. We still want to add more multiplayer features that didn't make it into Demo 5 (such as cut-in) and other niceties. There are logic/code changes planned to make future NetCode experiences less bug-prone and overall a better experience. That will take some time, but we're willing to go that far for quality.

We haven't forgotten about the Android version! Around the middle of 2018, we discovered that YoYoGames' SDK needed to meet Google's requirements for newer Android phones. The proprietor set out to make those changes, but as of this post, adjustments still have to be made. There isn't much we can do about that, so as of now it's on-hold until it's ready.

Add onto that Max's earlier health issues, and you see why we had to re-focus on priorities. Not to worry, the Android version is definitely NOT cancelled. We want it just as much as you guys.

Anyways, that's pretty much it. Make sure you follow us on our many other Social Media platforms to get the most up to date news, and until next time, this is Winds, signing out.

Hiya~ MaxRock's here.
I still can't believe our little V5 trailer got over 80,000 views...and it's still growing! That's the kind of attention we were hoping to get, and it makes us even more excited to deliver our game.

Our testers were very helpful in telling us of small improvements we could make, but we didn't get to make every tweak that we wanted. I'll explain our future plans in a second, but if you can't wait anymore...

If you have any questions on setting up the multiplayer, please read the enclosed guide. If you want to submit a bug, you can use our Discord or our Forum, but please try to give a lot of details about it so I can address it~

So now, when first build of Demo 5 landed, what's next? Well, let me tell you about...

Demo 5.1, it's planned features and Android Verion port of 5.0.x!

-We want to add something similar to Online Matchmaking in 5.1 to help streamline the connection process. Our biggest advantage is not needing Hamachi, and we want to fully exploit that.

-Official Chrono X tournaments is something you can expect, as well. Perhaps you'll even get chip rewards from the devs? Time will tell.

-A very vocal group has asked us to implement a "Cut-in" feature for PvP called TFC, where you can interrupt a person's dimming chip with your own. Implementing it before 5.0 would have taken quite the time,  so it was pushed into 5.1~

-Chip Balancing! We wanted to redo quite a few of our old BattleChips now that the Chip Library has been mostly ironed out. Chips like HydroPump, BackStrike, MaelStorm and Hangar will be getting very interesting changes for 5.1

-General System Tweaks,  if you notice some small things are smoother in 5.1, that's why~

-More HelpBBS quests. We need to add about 7 more, which didn't make the cut, unfortunately. They have good rewards, so maybe it'll change the meta just slightly enough to keep it interesting.

-RiffMan SP! He'll be in 5.1 after I add the Records menu I didn't have time with all the other things I had to do for 5.0 release, haha

-Quick Me.M.E.N.T.O. will be getting a nice buff! Quick Me.M.E.N.T.O. was made in the old days when we didn't have much, so it's current state isn't as powerful as we would like.

-Better drops! There are a lot more chips to get, but we'll be improving the Green Mystery Datas a little bit more in this update...as well as some super rare items.

-Demo 5.1 will come after I have had a nice little vacation. Perhaps in Fall, perhaps in late Summer. There are a lot of little changes we wanted to do that aren't stated here, but they're minor enough that they'll add up to a much better experience~

Android Version:

Android Version will be coming after you all had some fun with Windows's 5.0.x. There are still few design decisions we need to set in stone before we release it.
Keep your eyes on our social medias in the next month or two for a date it's being released~

Well, that's all for today! Have fun playing!!~

It is with great pleasure that we bring you the trailer for MMBN Chrono X V5! We toiled away, rewrote the entire game quite a few times, but we're finally here. You can now enjoy NetBattling against your friends in a PvP environment, and enjoy the continuation of our awesome story. The Android version will come sometime after the 18th, but the PC will be on time. That release date at the end? Guaranteed.

Many, many thanks to KilikTheGemKing for editing this wonderful trailer. Check him out at: Twitter and YouTube

For those of you who still don't follow us on Facebook, Youtube and Twitter (which you can find to the right of this site or down below), please do! You'll get weekly polls and even some new screenshots every now and then.

Join our Discord, we've got BIG plans for integrating some functionality with it into Chrono X.

Killer, out!
Hello everyone, how are you all doing?

I'd like to apologize for for the lack of update on our dA page. We've been rather active on our other social media platforms and have kind of let this page fall to the side. We recently were a part of the Team BN's winter marathon and while I had wanted to advertise it here, I got so caught up with holidays and preparing for the stream that I just never got around to it. Really sorry about that, guys. Rest assured, however, that once the holidays are over we will have the segment uploaded to YouTube and once we do I'll make sure it gets posted here.

As we reach the end of 2017 and make our way into 2018 I really want to step up our presence on social media. So hopefully we will be a lot more engaging with the fans leading up to, and after, the release of Demo 5. Can't give any details on what all we'll be doing yet, but hopefully by the end of 2017 or early 2018 we'll be doing more than just semi-frequent news posts on dA and weekly polls on Facebook.

Speaking of Facebook, we recently posted a small reveal on our Facebook for those who don't follow it. It's nothing too major but I wanted to make sure you guys got to see it here as well. I personally really enjoy this bit of the cutscene, and I know Killer does as well.

You had one job!

That's all for now. If you don't already, you should follow us on Facebook and Twitter. Also, we have a Discord now as well. It is the best way to stay in touch with the devs and also get your CX news a few minutes before it gets uploaded on our social media. Feel free to come pop in and say hi, maybe stay awhile. It's pretty cool.

Until next time, everyone. Happy holidays!
