Trying to Break Free

I had a faerie request from a good friend awhile back, so that is what my intent was. I just wanted to experiment and this happened. I like it a lot, wanted to play with water. Am pleased with how it turned out. Now, I did something I have done before in that I had to redo this piece from start to finish, being that Paint Shop Pro glitched out on me and wouldn’t let me undo stuff anymore. I was almost finished. D’oh! But after redoing it, I like it better. So yeah, here it is. Please do comment :)

*Update* Decided to make a few changes based on critique. Saved the original just in case the changes didn't work.

:bulletred: Added cracks to the jar glass
:bulletpurple: Drew the water seeping into the jar through the cracks.
:bulletblue: Tweaked the color of the model a little so she looked better in the light, used the dodge tool to brighten her wings a little.
:bulletgreen: Tweaked the lighting and added some on the other side at the top right of the jar (that was bothering me)
:bulletyellow: Added bubbles... Bubbles are nice.
:bulletorange: Put another element into the background because it looked unfinished.

I'm gonna do this critique in two parts...

The first part is about what I see at first glance. What I think maybe other people also see. And it's a good thing, because this is very pretty picture. The coloring is really nice, love the blue. Love the fairy dust falling dwon unedrneath the bottle. Really like the trees and leaves also, it's really a pretty picture!!!

Then what I saw when zooming in and this is where I can maybe give you a bit of advice. I can see that you tried making the model looks natural inside the bottel. You really wanted it to seem that she is INSIDE, lol. And putting a model inside a bottle is something I still struggle with also. And I have no idea what layers you applied, I can only tell you what it seems like to me and my personal advice. I think she's not blue enough. Everything around her is this very beautifull blue and then she seems to grey. I think if you maybe adjusted the coloring on her a bit so it' more blue and then added a clipping layer, filled it with the blue from around her and set it to an opacity of about 7% it might help alot.

But as I said, very nice picture!!!

Thank you, I see what you mean. I not only started dinking around to do just that, but I took it further and thought about putting a crack in the jar because she's trying to get out, plus it gives more reason for water to be seeping in. Would it be too much to use the dodge tool on the lighter spots of her wings so they are slightly luminous too? And I am glad you like it :D

Play with the dodge idea, it might work. Like the idea you have!!!

Spent a few hours working on the changes, ended up painting in some water running down the inside of the jar, brightened the wings a little, recolored the girl, added some more luminous area around the jar. Thanks again for the tips.
