Okay... We played a little last year about doing a collaboration between Heavy Metal and DeviantART. We got some guys on the back covers, we got a few articles in the mag, but we need to step up the game a little. It is so hard to get your work published these days and thank god Kevin Eastman understands that. So having put together some special issues of Heavy Metal recently I pitched Kevin on forgetting the idea of a few DeviantART pin-ups or a gallery... It's crazy to think that I haven't seriously sat down to paint since 2010. I've sketched and dabbled a bit. But things at work were so crazy that it didn't really leave energy for any side projects. I put all my extra energy into trying to move my career forward. But here we are and I'm soon to be laid off. So while I figure out what to do next and look for my next gig, I've started to pick up the Wacom stylus again. I've been watching a lot of oil painting tutorials on YouTube and I really wanted to try mixing colors like that rather than the way Photoshop does it. Need more time!

Another weekend gone. Well, not gone, since there's still tomorrow. But it's going to be packed and I won't have time to write or paint. And next weekend is booked solid. So no time until maybe 2 weekends from now. I do seem to be getting a little faster, maybe out of necessity. I managed to finish a painting in half a day today. And that was on top of helping my brother put together a poster and a DVD cover for his latest independent film. He's doing a musical next, which is really exciting.
