upd: had to slap a watermark over this work due to it being stolen and sold illegally in online stores multiple times :\

Undertale faves, 5/5

Ok, this one is a giant spoiler for the game, but I couldn't not love Asriel and not feel sorry for him after learning his backstory in the pacifist run ;__; Poor kid... Kinda wish he's got his happy ending, too.

The watermark is unfortunate, but this remains one of my absolute favorite images of Asriel.

Ahh, thank you! <3 That means a lot because there's so much great art with Asriel...and I really wish I wouldn't have to put that watermark over his face but alas, this image was stolen/used as design more than once :(

We understand that, and we are frustrated as well. Meanwhile, I can tell you that you've made a very accurate interpretation of Asriel. I commend you for that, and I feel I should support you further.

ASRIEL: Howdy! Chara, are you there? It's me, your best friend... (transforms into his Legendary Being form) ...ASRIEL DREEMURR.

Don't worry, he gets a happy ending too.

His storyline was never supposed to end like that.  That's a misunderstanding of the game's ending.  The game goes out of its way to hint that Frisk goes back to save Asriel as well by showing Frisk do the same for other characters as well as himself in in his Flowey state.

Frisk makes it out of the Underground in a Neutral Pacifist play-through but willingly resets so he can save Asgore's life (despite knowing it would trap him Underground forever), and continuously doing the Neutral Pacifist route in order to help Flowey and become friends with him.

The game doesn't end with a sad end for the sake of it.  That would be stupid and is the thing the ending openly mocks.  The whole game is a commentary on different aspects of game design and storytelling.  The ending plays out the way it does because it's making fun of the fact that several games have "tragic" endings for the simple sake of having a tragic ending without any good reason behind them.  These other games give no justification as to why they end the way they do, or have an obvious solution to the problem but don't have the characters think of it.  The game ends without the player having the option to save Asriel because it's making fun of the fact that lesser games do that kind of stuff all the time when there's no meaningful reason to do so.

It also parallels the Genocide route.  When you complete that route the player is able to sell Frisk's soul to Chara in order to recreate the world.  The player isn't allowed to do this in the Pacifist play-through because that's not something a moral person would do.  Nobody who cares about the well being and free will of others would sell someone else's soul to save another even if they had the ability to.  That's something for Frisk to do on his own because it's his soul and his right to do so.  The fact that he willingly trapped himself back Underground with no way of getting out because he wanted to save a single person's life, and continuously goes back to Flowey to find a way to save him from his suffering because he can tell there's a tragic person underneath all that hatred shows that Frisk wouldn't just give up to save everyone at the end.  Especially not when he finds out that the person he was trying to save before is truly a good person and one of the most selfless people you could ever meet.

The game ends this way so that you can imagine how Frisk saves Asriel rather than making how it's done an absolute by showing it.  However Asriel's restoration and salvation is confirmed.

WARNING! Carry on reading! Or you will die, even if you only looked at the word warning!

Once there was a little girl called Clarissa, she was ten-years-old and she lived in a mental hospital, because she killed her mom and her dad. She got so bad she went to kill all the staff in the hospital so the More-government decided that best idea was to get rid of her so they set up a special room to kill her, as humane as possible but it went wrong the machine they were using went wrong. And she sat there in agony for hours until she died.

Now every week on the day of her death she returns to the person that reads this letter, on a monday night at 12:00a.m. She creeps into your room and kills you slowly, by cutting you and watching you bleed to death.

Now send this to ten other pictures on this one site, and she will haunt someone else who doesn't. This isn't fake. apparently, if u copy and paste this to ten comments in the next ten minutes u will have the best day of ur life tomorrow. u will either get kissed or asked out, if u break this chain u will see a little dead girl in your room tonight. in 53 mins someone will say i love you or im sorry

This is one of my favorite Asriel pics of all time! Now that I'm using deviantart as my undertale story uploading place/undertale safe haven, I can finally favorite this pic and give it the admiration it deserves!

Seriously, it's really well done! I used it as my avatar on the Undertale Amino for a good while xD

Where did you get it? FYI, any items you see in online stores with this image on it were sold by people who used my art without permission - since I never sell any merch with my art on it. You're the second person who comes to me and says they have a backpack with this art on it. Thanks for supporting art thieves -__-

I got it on Amazon from someone called Green grassland...I hope that helps, I want to say that your artwork is amazing and I would never want anyone to use it for their own monetary gain...I hope you catch those thieves. no one should steal and/or use art they never made ON PURPOSE with or without your permission, ESPECIALLY if it was Undertale related. I just hope I can at least keep the backpack...it means a lot to me and I care for it as if it were Asriel himself. he means so much to me, and that piece of art you made means just as much. I hope I was able to help in any way I could.
