The Story With No Name Pg. 4 by mistformsquirrel The Story With No Name Pg. 4 by mistformsquirrel
Page 4 of The Story With No Name.

I tried a few new things with this one, and as I said in the journal, this really went off-script, so there's going to be a lot of script revising before page 5. It shouldn't make it any later than usual though.

Yeah, the idea was that most of the force went into the ground in front of him, tossing up a cloud of debris and sending him flying. I have a loooong way to go on my action scenes methinks ><;

It's not hard to do - have you seen manga with action lines? Or your fav comic with SMASH! effects? Something like that is pretty easy. Put them on a new layer and have fun. :nod:

Forgot to add - I really appreciate you taking the time to point this stuff out >.< I admit I'm a little disappointed my attempted method didn't work this time; but it's good to know that it didn't so I can do otherwise hehe <@_@> You're a big help Murasaki, thanks <^_^>

You're very welcome. I know it can be frustrating when you have a certain scene in your mind and yet it doesn't quite work out. Or else we can't quite figure out how to make that scene happen with the tools we use. :frustrated:

If you can afford it, I would get a copy of Scott McCloud's book, Making Comics, which is just an excellent all-round reference to the art of creating comics, from initial idea, through story, to pages. Amazon has it here [link] for about $16.

Also, can you get your hands on a graphics tablet? It will really help with tools such as the GIMP or any other digital painting/drawing tool.

And I just Watched a person who is building up an impressive array of tutorials for those of us wanting to make comics/manga. [link]

Do keep on drawing! :boing:

Well, I'm actually finally ordering my Wacom today <^_^> so that will be a huuuuuge help. When I have more cash I'll be looking into that book.

Also doing research. (ie: reading more comics of all types >_>)

Yeah, I'm just iffy about them to be honest, every time I try to do em the look fugly and I erase em before they get to the finished product >.<; Maybe if I muck about with the path tool some though. I do everything pen-and-ink except for the colors and text. So I'm not sure about drawing them via mouse. >.<
