Sydney Opera House, 1997.

This masterpiece of modernist architecture was designed by Danish architect Jorn Utzon in 1957. Conservatives and 'philistines' mocked the project and eventually forced Utzon to resign before the building opened on October 20, 1973 -- my eigth birthday.

Less hostile observers have likened the building to "turtles mating" and "nuns playing rugby". Thus the title.

My mother had just died some three weeks earlier. Six weeks before that my father died. Guess I wasn't in the mood to explore Sydney's cemeteries at the time. The need to stay 'bouyant' was paramount.

Nice pic my friend. :) (Smile)
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Lovely, it does appear odd from this angle, but then I think it always looked odd :-) (Smile)
