Sketch :: Sanctuary by MissWiggle Sketch :: Sanctuary by MissWiggle
Yeah, so I was pissed off today and needed to vent, so i took it out on my tablet. 1 hour, 45 minutes.

It's pretty sketchy, but I like how it's coming along. I'll probably return to it sometime in the future to clear up a couple uuh....shall we say, areas that need some more reflected light, and other stuff too.

:b Whatever. This is one of my mental sanctuaries, I guess, cause I am no longer mad. In fact, I'm elated, but that will last about half an hour until I pick every flaw out in the picture and become exasperated.

:D I type too much. *eats dinner*

"until I pick every flaw out in the picture and become exasperated"
... so what did you find?

The person lacks definition, the foliage needs refining, the flowers need to be completely redone, detailed foreground needs to be painted, rocks textured...and general touch ups, lol. :D

Ok, you know the reason I asked, was that I find the picture perfect .... literally! And I honestly thought you were kind of fishing for compliments with that "when I see the flaws, I'll be exasperated" line ...
So that was actually a test, but I must say you DID pass .... LOL !!

my compliments for the picture!
it's excellent.

BTW, what are the 2 high ... uhm, things ? Mountains ? And is there a background story to the picture, or just a random fantasy picture you had in mind ?

Thanks for the compliment! The 2 things in the background are a massive arch of rock. I painted it when I was upset and not caring about anything, so I didn't even know what it was while I was finished painting it. ;b I consider it a happy accident. For every one random sketch that works out in the end, there are 10 that fail and no one ever sees...(unless they hax into my computer).

thanks for the message. I like the surreal feeling about the image!

I didn't find any flaws (except maybe for the right side of the abyss which is kind of semi-opaque/double-edged ... but maybe that's on purpose)

DAMN! THAT'S AMAZING!
1 hr and 45 min., and for it to look that awesome, and it takes me nearly 2 hours to draw a wall of crystals and the picture's still not done!
I envy you greatly....
but still you're awesome!

You sketched such a beautiful world. I love the colours, and those two large rock columns make me think of legs.

UGH, you're not human.. Less than two hours, I'm amazed. xD

For a speed paint this is execptional. You've managed to build up such a heavy atmosphere. The colours are wonderful..

I love the incredible layering of colour you do, and how you do a sketch and it looks so complete and so damned good!

Sure! For this one, I got a soft brush and just scribbled. Then, I got a texture brush, set the direction to "random" in the brush settings, and just messed with it. :)

Yeah this has a very concept art/environment feel to it - I really like it. All I would say is to ditch the peppering of red and white dots, it kills it! /LOVE/ the blue and green hues and your brushwork is awesome.

HOW DO YOU PAINT SO FAST!
*slams head on keyboard.

I hate my tablet and I hate drawing. In fact, it makes me even angrier every time I draw....cause it looks so..bad!

Awesome pic btw.

I admire your sketches. Obviously quite a bit rough, but your ideas flow freely, whereas someone like me has mental filters that limit my potential

-_-;

As far as I know, everyone has those damn filters. Even the pro's have their bad days...even though, theyre "bad days" seriously outdo the best of my "good days" :D

*head explodes* :D Keep with it, we'll get there someday!
