I am happy and intimidated at the same time to announce that :
I participated in an artistic project.
Indeed, a few years ago, I answered a person on a forum, who became my friend now, who was looking for personal experiences about the relationship to the body and how we grow up with the eyes of others on this body.
So, on one side, you have my text (we took 8 months to finalize it) and on the other side, you have a portrait of mine in my room.
Soon, it'll be completed by an audio and a short video.
You can find this text (I'm sorry but it's in french
) and photo :
For me, it was a success to finish this project. But I didn't realize that it wasn't finished yet.
THERE WAS AN EXPO !
It took place in Pride'n Art
(Nantes, France) in the same time that other expos (on different subjects, but there was a common theme : the body).
For my participation, Emi chose to put a wheelchair in front of my portrait and my key sentences and to add an inscription on the side of the chair to invite people to sit, to look themselves in the mirror on their side. A lot of people had an impact reading my text, seeing themselves in the chair and it's a good impact.
When I chose to participate, my goal was to expose myself, to finish a project, to have a different view on myself.
And I'm really proud to see that this has a bigger impact. People start thinking after reading, they want to know more about disability, they realize they don't know much on this subject. They want to talk about it, they ask questions and it's great to realize that I also have the power to change the eyes of others.
The two pictures above are not from me but from one photographe present for the private view and from my friend when I came see the expo.
You can go see their (amazing) work here :
Finally, I want to thank a lot my friend Emi for the chance she gave me with this project and for her sublime work ! Thank you for reading me !
