Interpretive panel assignment. Painted entirely in Photoshop using 4 of :iconadonihs: 's brushes: [link] (The 19 detailed painting brush, the 300 lighting brush, the 500 chalk brush, and the 30 hard ink brush)

I chose some of the huge birds you may see in the Monterey/Big Sur area, and I imagine this panel hypothetically placed somewhere in those dirt turn-outs/viewpoints on the edge of the cliffs of highway 1 there.

Lots of researching and hunting for references used here - the original is 24x36'' and I scaled the three heads to (approximately) life size. The flying birds are for simple body shape and field markings, and the background is quite simple too.

This was my first time drawing ugly birds!!! (except for the eagle) XD And it took about 3-4 hours per bird, many for the researching and writing the text, and too many for the overall layout. XP

Combined photoshop file is 1.1GB.

This is a wonderful illustration! I didn't know we got golden eagles here - and California condors :wow: I would love to see a wild one! I've only seen turkey vultures and some hawks around here :XD: Love their profile comparisons and the in-flight silhouettes are especially useful!

Thanks! I've seen golden eagles soaring on the way to the pinnacles - so there are some around! I have yet to see a condor though! :)
