Sci Illust. 2: Sand Dollar

The second main project in my Science Illustration class: a full stipple drawing (with some line). Stipple is a bunch of applied dots to build shadow and texture - which look best at reduced sizes. This time it's of a nice little sand dollar (Dendraster excentricus). I had to set up an extreme lighting angle on him to get the textures and lines to show up on its predominantly white/flat surface.

Pigma micron pen on Bristol. About 2-3 hours to render each side separately.
