My Bio
Monterey, California

Class of 2012 graduate from CSUMB's Science Illustration Program. scienceillustration.org/

Also I'm a 2010 graduate at the University of California San Diego, with a B.S. in Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution (Biology). I've also minored in Interdisciplinary Computing and the Arts (ICAM).

I've had private art instruction since I was 11, and normal after school art classes before then. This was in traditional art though, and taught by a local professional in my hometown, Dante Rondo: www.danterondo.com/ I've had my stuff shown in a restaurant and at a local art gallery in my hometown at age 15.

In highschool I taught myself how to use photoshop since it was required at an internship I did that makes army training games. I learned a bit of 3Ds Max there too. Whee! Since then I've moved on to making more digital art instead of traditional pieces.

My Tracks of an Oak Killer illustration was published on the cover of the USDA Forest Service's Proceedings of the Sudden Oak Death Fifth Science Symposium! See it here: http://www.fs.fed.us/psw/publications/documents/psw_gtr243/ Also, I've been published in Scientific American! I illustrated 3 bees to appear on an infographic, which you can view here: http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=where-the-wild-bees-are or look for it on pg 88 of the Dec 2013 issue! Also, I've joined the Medical Illustration Sourcebook, where you can see more portfolio works by me here: http://medillsb.com/ArtistPortfolioThumbs.aspx?AID=7540

Science Notes 2012 has finally been published online, which features my oak tree illustration http://missnysha.deviantart.com/art/Tracks-of-an-Oak-Killer-309265682 and others by my classmates in the Science Illustration program. Each of us had the task of illustrating the stories for students in the Science Writing program. See mine here! http://sciencenotes.ucsc.edu/2012/pages/oaks/oaks.html And featured here! https://scicom.ucsc.edu/publications/science_notes.html

The opening reception for my class's exhibit, "Illustrating Nature", went very well! To prepare for the opening I created a new portfolio website that you can check out here: http://www.jillianwalters.com Enjoy! And a reminder about the exhibit:
